IIDA and AIA Chicago Announce 2020 Dates for Second Annual Designers and Architects Talk Series

IIDA and AIA Chicago, together, are pleased to announce the Designers and Architects Talk: A Series About Design and Its Impact on Client Success will return in spring 2020 after a highly successful inaugural series. The four-part discussion series, addressing commercial interior architecture and design, will be held at IIDA Headquarters in Chicago.

“IIDA is honored to partner with AIA Chicago to present the second installment of the Designers and Architects Talk series after receiving a great response to the first season,” says IIDA Deputy Director and Senior Vice President John Czarnecki, Hon. IIDA, Assoc. AIA. “We look forward to welcoming architects, designers, and related professionals to enjoy both the dialogues and accompanying receptions that further connect the design community.”

The 2020 lineup will bring together an assembly of the best in design and architecture featuring topics that cover headline projects, firm leadership, and design strategy. The sessions and dates slated for the upcoming series are:

  • Tuesday, February 11: Lauren Rottet, FIIDA, FAIA, in conversation with Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, executive vice president and CEO of IIDA
  • Tuesday, March 10: Repositioned and Reimagined: Willis Tower, Tribune Tower, and Old Post Office, moderated by Zurich Esposito, Hon. AIA, executive vice president of AIA Chicago
  • Tuesday, April 14: New Design Firms Changing the Face of Chicago, moderated by John Czarnecki, Hon. IIDA, Assoc. AIA, deputy director and senior vice president of IIDA
  • Tuesday, May 5: Fulton Market: an Evolving City, moderated by Peter Exley, FAIA, 2021 AIA national president

The 2020 season will include many notable and newsworthy speakers. Renowned architect and designer Lauren Rottet, president and founding principal of Rottet Studio, will kick off the series discussing her work and career. The developer of the Tribune Tower repositioning, Lee Golub, principal and executive vice president of Golub and Company, will explain that historic building’s transformation. And key players in Fulton Market development, including Kyle Kamin, executive vice president of CBRE, and Rick Kintigh, an architect with Sterling Bay, will share the many plans for the neighborhood.

All sessions are approved for one (1) AIA LU and one (1) IDCEC CEU. IIDA and AIA members will receive the special admission price of $10 for an individual session and $30 for the series when they register online.
