IFMA, RICS Celebrate World FM Day 2017

In honor of World FM Day, the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is pleased to join professionals and organizations from around the globe — including the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) — in recognizing the contributions of facility management (FM) to our world. While May 17 is designated as World FM Day this year, IFMA and RICS are celebrating the positive impact of facility management on health, safety, productivity and well-being all week.

The 2017 theme, “enabling positive experiences,” highlights the growing focus on end-user satisfaction within the built environment. As a profession that encompasses multiple disciplines to ensure functionality of the built environment by integrating people, place, process and technology, FM has a tremendous impact on the quality of life for billions of people around the world who work in or use public and commercial facilities. FM professionals are responsible for every aspect of building operations, from indoor air quality to security and environmental stewardship.

To celebrate, IFMA is offering a different FM resource free of charge each day this week, including research reports, how-to guides and issues of the highly regarded FMJ magazine. In addition, IFMA’s Facility Management Consultants Council is hosting a marathon virtual conference throughout the week, with nearly 40 webinar sessions by RICS and IFMA professionals. Presenters from around the globe are covering critical FM topics, including efficiency, space utilization, risk, technology and more. Visit bit.ly/WFMD2017 for details on the celebrations and resource links.

IFMA President and CEO Tony Keane joined RICS Chief Executive Sean Tompkins to commemorate World FM Day 2017 and extend well wishes to the global FM community. Watch the video message at www.youtube.com/watch?v=56jJv-I-kcc.

In addition, IFMA extends congratulations to the winners of this year’s Global FM Awards of Excellence. Each year, these awards recognize three facility management projects from around the world that represent the highest level of FM best practices in enabling business performance. In 2017, the top two awardees are IFMA members:
