IFI Interiors Declaration Translated Into Arabic; Reaches An Ever More Diverse Audience of the International Interior Architect/Design Community

The International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) along with the Association of Professional Interior Designers (APID) is pleased to announce the translation of the IFI Interiors Declaration into Arabic.

International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers (IFI) has been a vital advocate for this industry, acting as a global forum for collaboration among professional interior architects and designers. APID brings these professional, academic, and industry leaders together with endorsed events happening throughout the local design community.

The IFI Interiorsā€™ Declaration, a consensus based vision/mission statement of agreement purpose and value of the Interiors discipline, forms a unanimous agreement establishing the essential foundations and their advancement for Interior Architecture/Design worldwide. The ideas contained in the Declaration provide clear goals for and affect the fundamental understanding and shaping of our practice, its education and research, and for the outcomes required of our built environment in support of humanity, society and culture.

In a global world, interior architecture/design must play a role in facilitating the retention of cultural diversity. That is why, as a member so of the IFI global community, APID, supported by IFI, has devoted considerable time and attention to the preparation of the translation of the Interiors Declaration into Arabic for the benefit and use of associations, schools, corporations, and Interior Architect/Designers across the Arab speaking world.

ā€œThe Interiors Declaration is a commandment to regulate the business of Interior Design and to narrow the gaps and differences of the Interior Design practice across the globe”, said APID President Farida Kamber Al Awadhi reflecting on the translation of this important document. She continued, “The translation of Interiors Declaration into Arabic and different languages would bring the International Interior Design community closerā€

This Arabic language translation, which boasts approximately 290 million native speakers globally[1], joins the the other 10 global languages which the declaration is already translated (ENGLISH [Original Version], CHINESE [Traditional], CHINESE [Simplified], KOREAN, FRENCH, GERMAN, SPANISH, JAPANESE, RUSSIAN, TURKISH). This is the first and significant step towards the adoption of the IFI declaration by several Arabic cities/countries in region (The Mediterranean, the Gulf, the Middle East and Northern Africa).

IFI President Sebastiano Raneri summing up the significance of this historic document and its newly added Arabic translation stated ā€as one of the foundational design disciplines, essential to human wellbeing and life quality, the translation of the IFI Interiors Declaration tenets bring closeness and coherence to the practice, education and research for Interiors worldwide. The IFI Executive Board and world community proudly welcome this addition and congratulate our Arabic speaking colleagues for this accomplishment.ā€

The IFI Interiors Declaration is the result of the IFI Design Frontiers: The Interiors Entity (IFI DFIE) Global Symposium, held in New York City in February of 2011, a first in the history of the Interiorsā€™ profession. A consensus based vision/mission statement for the Interiors discipline forms a unanimous agreement of 88 delegates from 30 nations establishing the essential foundations and their advancement for Interior Architecture/Design worldwide. The ideas contained in the Declaration provide clear goals for and affect the fundamental understanding and shaping of our practice, its education and research, and for the outcomes required of our built environment in support of humanity, society and culture.
