Humanscale opened its newest showroom in Chicago last month, the first of many global showrooms in partnership with award-winning architecture firm Reddymade. The Fulton Market space is designated as Living Building Challenge 4.0 Ready, a framework for sustainable building design and performance established by the International Living Future Institute. The performance is based on seven areas: Place, Water, Energy, Health & Happiness, Materials, Equity, and Beauty.
It is also designed to comply with the standards for Design for Freedom, which ensures the elimination of forced labor in the supply chain for building materials. The showroom was built using ethical and transparent practices from start to finish, aligning with both Humanscale and Reddymade’s broader goals of sustainability, equality, and responsibility. These certifications underscore Humanscale’s longstanding commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility. The brand knows that true progress lies in a multifaceted systems approach that spans all aspects of the business from products, to manufacturing processes and facilities, to physical spaces and showrooms.
