HLW Announces Multiple Staff Promotions in Los Angeles Office

HLW, the global architecture, interiors, and planning firm is pleased to announce the following promotions in its Los Angeles office. David Swartz has been promoted to Senior Partner; Pablo Maida, Joseph Bryant, and Erin Gallagher have been promoted to Senior Associate; and Kiana Dolat, Melissa Horvat, David Pekema, Amy Rangel, Joacha Sullivan, Rebecca Swanner, and Shannon Woodcock have been promoted to Associate.

Senior Partner

David Swartz
An HLW veteran, David has been with the firm since 1995 and was promoted to partner in 2000. Licensed in 18 states, he has taught at the University of Southern California, has been a Master Commissioner for the California Architects Board since 1994, and was formerly a member of the University of Southern California Architectural Guild Board since 2015. While at HLW, David received the AIA National Young Architect Award in 1998, and has been inducted into the AIA College of Fellows earlier this year, the first HLW partner to do so. David is a hands on mentor and has been instrumental to the firm’s award-winning projects.

Senior Associate

Pablo Maida
An experienced and licensed architect, Pablo combines his technical expertise in Broadcast design and strong leadership skills to manage projects and client relationships to create success at the highest level.

Joseph Bryant
As an experienced Job Captain Joseph bring his strong work ethic, and personnel skills to work with the team in handling difficult situations with ease and clarity. Through these efforts, he maintains long-lasting relationships with industry professionals & clients.

Erin Gallagher
Erin is a natural leader, a skill demonstrated as she has taken on the responsibilities of project manager for high-profile projects, as well as assisting with recruiting the finest talent for HLW. Erin has recently relocated to the HLW London office to help grow the base building sector in that office.

Associate

Kiana Dolat
Kiana is a licensed architect who is committed to design excellence, and constantly seeks opportunities to evolve ideas and work with the team to create the strongest concept. She is also instrumental in working on the intern program to bring the most talented students into the mix at HLW.

Melissa Horvat
Working tirelessly to develop new business, Melissa is tenacious in maintaining good relationships with existing clients. A skilled soft-touch manager, she thrives at anticipating and recognizing the perspectives and needs of others. Melissa demonstrates creativity in her role, seeking new business opportunities that may lie in unexpected areas and makes every effort to promote and support staff talent in front of clients.

David Pekema
A skilled project manager and team leader, David is constantly striving to find ways to align all team members and move projects forward. Through his dedication and leadership he has established strong and lasting relationships within the industry.

Amy Rangel
As a licensed architect, Amy is committed to excellence in both design and documentation. A key team leader within the organization, she is regularly requested by repeat clients thanks to her work ethic, design skills, and professionalism.

Joacha Sullivan
Combining her skills as both a Project Manager & licensed architect with an eye for design, Joacha is well rounded and highly capable. She brings those skills to bear on both interior & architectural projects by fulfilling a variety of demanding tasks.

Rebecca Swanner
Rebecca is well versed as a licensed architect and design and her diverse skills have helped develop long lasting relationships with clients. She also co-leads the internship search committee, engaging for several years in outreach and off-site recruiting, resulting in high-quality interns that have been hired as valuable junior staff.

Shannon Woodcock
Shannon recently joined the Los Angeles team relocating from the NYC office. As a Senior Strategist she has contributed significantly to HLW’s work on notable projects where she had an immediate impact in helping clients navigate their strategic requirements at the onset of projects.
