Hightower Partners with Crassevig to Introduce the Mixis Chair to the North American Market

Hightower presents to the North American market the Mixis Chair, a collaboration with Italian company Crassevig, celebrated for 55 years of refined craftsmanship and timeless design with a continued balance of Scandinavian-inspired simplicity and Italian industrial expertise. The companies’ shared dedication to quality and adaptability forms the foundation for their collaboration on Mixis.

Designed by Mario Ferrarini, Mixis embodies the enduring pursuit of innovation, uniting comfort, precision, and honest materials in a chair that blends elegance with everyday functionality. Mixis offers the best of thoughtful design and daily performance. Its generous 21-inch-wide seat, open backrest that assists in movement for those with limited dexterity, and welcoming overall form bring warmth and comfort to a range of interiors, making it ideal for education, workplace, and amenity spaces where versatility and longevity are essential.

“Mixis was designed to express lightness and strength through simple, honest connections,” Ferrarini noted. “Each detail tells the story of craftsmanship made to last.”

The name Mixis comes from the chair’s mix of materials; the frame is made of solid wood and plywood, and the finger joints are what help make Mixis exceptionally strong. Offered by Hightower in a range of stained oak finishes, Mixis highlights the quiet beauty of wood and the chair’s refined craftsmanship. An optional upholstered seat, crafted domestically in High Point, North Carolina, adds comfort and texture.

“Because of the transparent construction, there’s nowhere to hide in terms of its craftsmanship,” said Shawn Sowers, Hightower’s VP of Design. “Mixis reflects our Considered Solutions approach with intentional design details that meet the needs of all users while supporting sustainability goals. At the same time, comfort isn’t an afterthought.”

While offering a design that delivers residential familiarity, Mixis is BIFMA x5.41 Drop Tested and 400 lb.-rated, and carries a three-year warranty to support ongoing, regular use. The chair stacks four high for easy storage, while the optional seat upholstery replaces the MDF base with a foam pad for protection and visual continuity. Choose polyethylene or felt glides for floor compatibility; a trolley is available upon request for transporting multiple chairs.

Rooted in responsible craftsmanship, Mixis is made in a facility powered by 60% solar energy and heated with 93% recycled production waste, meaning each chair is created with care for both people and the planet. Mixis’ natural materials and biophilic elements bring warmth to interiors and support well-being, while the removable upholstered seat allows for easy renewal and recycling. Indoor Advantage Gold Certified, Mixis is a considered solution for lasting beauty and sustainability, available from inventory in just six weeks.
