Healthcare Architect Randy Beckwith Joins Carrier Johnson + CULTURE
Global architecture, interiors and branding leader Carrier Johnson + CULTURE has announced an addition to its healthcare design team: Randy Beckwith, AIA, LEED AP, has joined the firm as project manager. Bringing with him 20 years of experience with an array of project types and special expertise in the healthcare sector, Beckwith will apply his eye for distinctive, functional design to the firm’s healthcare portfolio,
A technician as well as a creative force, Beckwith is well-versed in leading knowledge-based, integrated, and lean design processes. For Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, Beckwith brings critical skills and healthcare expertise to the table in the areas of building technology, management of planning and design, life-safety compliance and construction administration.
“Randy’s talent and knowledge base make him a crucial addition to our team,” says Mike Engel, AIA, DBIA, healthcare director for Carrier Johnson + CULTURE. “Having spent the better part of the last two decades focused on managing multi-disciplinary teams in the design and construction of new and renovated medical facilities at all scales, Randy also has significant experience in campus and regional master planning, and boasts unparalleled comprehension of healthcare codes. Randy will solidify our firm’s position as the preeminent healthcare design leader for the region, and globally.”
Returning to Southern California from the Midwest, Beckwith’s career spans decades beginning with field work as a draftsman while still in high school. A graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago class of 1995 where he earned a professional Bachelor of Architecture degree, Beckwith’s already significant experience allowed him to rise to the position of senior project architect just a few short years later.
Before returning to San Diego to join Carrier Johnson + CULTURE, he worked for 15 years at an integrated architecture, engineering and planning firm in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he worked as a senior project architect and project manager leading teams through complex healthcare projects. One of his career highlights is the award-winning Virtua Replacement Hospital in Voorhees, New Jersey.
“I’m excited to take on this new role with Carrier Johnson + CULTURE,” remarks Beckwith. “I’m looking forward to lending my particular proficiencies to new projects and working alongside new colleagues. But even more, I’m looking forward to new challenges. I’ve been doing this for a long time, but the level of innovation, excellence, and thought leadership here is energizing. I’m sure I have as much to learn as to offer.”
