HDR welcomes Philip Toussaint, AIA, to the Lawrenceville office as a healthcare principal and senior project manager.

Phil is passionate about how he can impact the delivery of healthcare services within the ever-changing healthcare environment through his work as an architect. “The increasing complexity and changing landscape of healthcare providers and their unique strategic needs intrigues and inspires me,” he says.

A healthcare architect with 30 years of experience in all phases of project delivery, multiple building types and client relationships, Phil has worked on several award-winning projects. These projects have included children’s hospitals, cancer centers, ambulatory care centers and replacement hospitals. In fact, one of his biggest and most recent accomplishments was his significant work in a project management role on the University Medical Center of Princeton, a major replacement hospital in New Jersey.

Phil says he is excited about working at HDR because he has joined a growing, very capable and high-energy team with a wealth of experience and knowledge in all facets of healthcare planning and architecture. He identifies his strongest professional skills as being his ability to understand and simplify complex systems; his intellectual curiosity to learn new things; his aptness at developing and implementing strategies to achieve targeted goals; and his ability to empathize with his clients—to put himself in their shoes and look at problems from their perspective. These capabilities have lead to an accomplished career in architecture and healthcare facility design.

”We are really thrilled to have Phil join our healthcare practice here in Princeton, and bring his extensive project management and leadership skills to our work and our clients,” says Chris Bormann, regional director of health for HDR. “Phil augments a team that provides diverse healthcare design and consulting expertise all over the East Coast.”
