The American College of Healthcare Architects (ACHA) has announced that Mark Tiscornia, AIA, ACHA, LEED AP BD+C, healthcare principal in HDR’s Phoenix architecture studio, has earned board certification in healthcare architecture.
Tiscornia recently passed an accredited examination, which assesses the knowledge and understanding of architects who specialize in healthcare. He joins the ranks of more than 400 of his ACHA colleagues in the United States and Canada who have received this important architectural credential. In addition to the exam, architects must submit a data-heavy portfolio that documents his or her body of work and outlines their experience, including six recommendation letters from clients and peers.
ACHA requires its certification-holders to practice in an ethical manner, maintain the highest standards in the specialized field of healthcare architecture, and to add to its body of knowledge.
“We’re very proud of Mark’s recognition as a specialist in healthcare architecture,” says Hank Adams, AIA, ACHA, EDAC, senior vice president and health practice director. “Mark is a proven leader in the healthcare industry who helps our clients create healing environments that are informed by best practices, research, and evidence-based design.”
With more than 20 years of experience in all phases of the healthcare design and construction process, Tiscornia is a recognized expert in leading teams for large-scale academic, acute care, and ambulatory healthcare facilities, particularly in California and Arizona. Having spent the last 10 years driving the design and construction of over $1.5 billion in hospital construction projects, he has developed a keen sense for managing risk in the design process.
