Known for leading as a Creative Visionary, Chong brings decades of contract furniture industry experience to HBF and HBF Textiles –
HBF, a subsidiary of the HNI Corporation, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dan Chong as the company’s new President. Chong will lead both the HBF and HBF Textiles brands in this role, bringing a wealth of expertise to the table. Chong is widely recognized in the architecture & design (A&D) industry as a collaborative, strategic thinker and an exceptional brand leader. He pioneered extensive A&D initiatives at multiple companies, resulting in consistent sales growth over time. Known throughout the marketplace as an outside-the-box innovator and industry expert, Chong has amassed extensive knowledge guiding high-powered brands to continued success.
“HBF is a brand with a rich of history and a strong standing in the industry,” notes HNI Executive Vice President and President of HNI Contract Furniture Group Jeff Lorenger. “Dan’s background of generating compelling and creative strategies for success, defining key brand traits, and building community will make him an invaluable leader for HBF.”
Chong comments, “I’ve long held the HBF brand in high esteem. For me, this position goes far beyond business…it is an opportunity to lead an organization with a storied history of design excellence, and work with a team that’s passionate about writing the next chapter in the evolution of the brand. I look forward to building a shared vision, one that we embody every day.”
A graduate of University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, Chong first became a player in the contract furniture industry working at Metro in 1993. There, he climbed the ranks with a focus on introducing transformative products to the office environment, and achieved the position of President and CEO. Chong participated in the transition of the Steelcase Design Partnership into Coalesse, and following this shift, he was named Vice President, Design Community Strategy at Steelcase. While in this role, he deepened Steelcase’s relationships with the A&D community throughout North America.
In 2010, Chong founded architxture LLC, an independent contract furnishings dealership in Orange County, where he continued to connect with top architects, designers, and specifiers by positioning his business as a collaborator throughout the design and development process. Prior to making his move to HBF, Chong was the Vice President of Sales for Allermuir North America.
“As work increasingly becomes independent of time and place, the contract furnishings industry is evolving in a very unique way,” continues Chong. “We’re going to build upon those attributes which have made HBF and HBF Textiles beloved by the design community, while strengthening the company’s relevance to the places we now seek to do our work.”
Chong will officially step into the role of President of HBF and HBF Textiles at NeoCon 2016, June 13-15 in Chicago, IL.
