Gunlocke’s sleek, new Urbana™ line combines inviting comfort with sophisticated-yet-approachable design. This full collection of freestanding, larger-scale “work-lounge” furniture offers both designers and end users flexible configuration options for any workspace.
Urbana, the first lounge offering designed for Gunlocke by Kevin Stark, features a sofa, chair, ottoman, benches and a coffee table that can stand alone or can be combined in a variety of intimate layouts.
“Using the ottomans and benches, you get a flexibility that allows you to form corners and L-shapes or even create a chaise lounge using the ottoman and a lounge or chair seat, depending on your design needs,” Stark says.
Urbana’s adaptable design extends into its aesthetics. The collection’s pieces blend the best of a residential-inspired comfort with true office environment functionality, ultimately delivering a true “work-lounge” experience. Wide chair and sofa arms provide a place for workers to perch in group gatherings or to prop up a mobile device during meetings. When the meetings are done or the day is over, these pieces invite users to sit down, sink into them and stay awhile, thanks to a thin, cushioning foam layer under the upholstery, which provides noticeable comfort.
“Urbana is a hybrid concept that combines the best of a lounge and a side chair,” Stark explains, noting that the seatback angle and the depth of the seat itself allow users to be comfortable yet supported in an upright position that is conducive to work on a laptop or tablet.
Urbana looks both modern and timeless. It’s sophisticated without being stuffy. Available in all Gunlocke fabrics, Urbana offers standard French-seam topstitching and optional channel stitching on the seat and seat back. A 3-inch-wide reveal highlights unique metal feet and die-cast aluminum legs for subtle, yet distinctive, ornamentation.
“The feet are almost like jewelry,” Stark notes. “The effect is really beautiful.”
Durable, repairable and sustainable, Urbana’s recyclable, mixed materials separate easily and can be re-used, recycled or composted. As with all Gunlocke products, Urbana is level® 2 certified.
