Gunlocke Convo™ – A New Level of Barstool Comfort with Environmental Design
Versatile, comfortable, sleek – all aptly describe Gunlocke’s new Convo™ Barstool, designed by Alyssa Coletti of Nonfiction Creative. Now available to order to design specifications, this light-scale, elegant, use-anywhere barstool truly defines how sleek and tailored design can be surprisingly and delightfully comfortable. What’s more, it received several environmental certifications and can contribute to up to six credits for LEED® 2009 and five for LEED® V4 certification.
Coletti created Convo with constant comfort in mind. The stool is available with either an elegant carved ash seat or an upholstered version, comprised of a supportive cushion enveloped by a rigid shell. This shell, made of fiberglass-reinforced urethane, is filled with a supple and resilient molded foam cushion that provides a comfortable seat for a short stay or an extended work session.
“I designed the seat to be especially supportive of the sitz bones and tailbone, where hard seats can cause pain,” Coletti explains. “The seat dips down and the cushioning impact is the greatest in that area. I wanted the seat to feel like it was cradling the person using it.”
Available in bar height, and soon, counter height, the upholstered Convo features bottom and top shells that can be customized with two different upholstery options from Gunlocke’s full line of fabrics and leathers. The carved solid ash seat version offers a sleek and natural statement piece. The combination of the seat’s streamlined, sculptural form and materials that reflect Gunlocke’s soul as a wood manufacturer creates a progressive design that is true to Gunlocke’s past. The steel frame for either model is available in polished stainless steel or in bronze, silver or black powder coat finishes.
Durable, repairable and sustainable, Convo’s mixed materials are easily separable and can be re-used, recycled or composted. As with all Gunlocke products, Convo is level® 2 certified. It also boasts SCS Indoor Advantage™ Gold certification. FSC Certified wood-seat models featuring 32 percent new FSC wood are available.
For LEED® 2009, both versions of Convo offer contributions in MR Credit 2, 4 and 5 and IEQ Credit 4.5. The wood-seat version also can contribute to MR Credit 7. For LEED® V4, this new seating line can contribute to MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization: Sourcing of Raw Materials (Option 2); MR Credit: Building Product Disclosure and Optimization: Material Ingredients (Option 1); EQ Credit: Low-Emitting Materials; and Pilot Credit for Social Equity with the Supply Chain.
Convo can also be used to support projects going for the LEED Pilot Credit for Environmentally Preferable Interior Finishes and Furnishings (1 point), which is applicable to both LEED 2009 and LEED V4.
