Ghent, a leading U.S. manufacturer of visual communication solutions, has earned accreditation for its factory tour as a continuing education unit (CEU) through the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the Interior Design Continuing Education Council (IDCEC), and the Green Building Certification Institute (GBCI). The accreditation recognizes the tour as a substantive learning experience that earns credit for licensed architects, interior designers, and LEED-credentialed professionals.
Based at Ghent’s production facility in Lebanon, OH, the factory tour is a structured, immersive learning program that takes participants inside the manufacturing process, from raw materials to the finished product. The course is organized around four required learning objectives, each designed to connect manufacturing knowledge directly to design practice.
Participants explore how Ghent’s end-to-end manufacturing capabilities — including the use of domestic raw materials, precision production systems, and sustainable practices — translate into superior product quality, reduced lead times, and confidence in specifications. The tour covers sustainability and material sourcing, with an emphasis on environmental impact and green certifications. Participants gain firsthand insight into how visual communication products such as whiteboards, glassboards, and bulletin boards support collaboration, engagement, and flexibility in modern workplace environments. The program also covers Ghent’s customization and customer-owned materials (COM) processes, helping specifiers understand how project-specific solutions are evaluated, tested, and executed while maintaining design intent.
“We have always believed that when designers and architects walk our floor, they leave with a fundamentally different understanding of what our products can do and why specification decisions matter,” said Susan Claus, Ghent’s Director of Marketing. “Earning accreditation through AIA, IDCEC, and GBCI formalizes what we’ve known for a long time: this tour is a real educational experience. We’re proud to offer the design community continuing education credit for time well spent.”
The accredited tour is available to design professionals, architecture firms, dealer partners, and industry groups. With more than 95 percent of Ghent products manufactured in the United States and all products made to order, the tour offers participants a rare, direct connection between the decisions made on the production floor and the solutions that ultimately finish a space.
