Department of Defense’s Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Program (CMMC)
On August 15, 2024, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) issued the proposed final rule implementing the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification 2.0 (CMMC) program. These requirements apply to all DoD contracts where a defense contractor or subcontractor, which includes our dealer partners, will process, store, or transmit Federal Contract Information or Controlled Unclassified Information. When fully phased in, these rules will be placed in nearly every DoD contract and require contractors and subcontractors to self-certify or obtain a third-party certification of their compliance prior to being awarded a DoD contract.
As the phased roll-out of these rules will begin as soon as a final rule is issued in early to mid-2025, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with the requirements and assess the applicability of these rules to your business.
The Coalition for Government Procurement is hosting a complimentary webinar that we hope our dealers who do business with the Federal government will find helpful. The guest presenter will be a Partner at the law firm Holland & Knight and you can register at the following link: The Nuts & Bolts of CMMC.
