An anniversary edition armchair celebrating 100 years of Vico Magistretti (1920 – 2006).
Bold personality and detailed construction make Fritz Hansen’s anniversary edition Carimate truly special.
The armchair honors Vico Magistretti who designed the original red Carimate in 1959 for the golf club Carimate in Italy. The details make this anniversary edition by Fritz Hansen truly special.
‘The Carimate is a special chair with a lot of presence and personality. Vico Magistretti made a modern classic with this design. It’s strong alone or around a dining table,’ says Christian Andresen, Fritz Hansen’s head of design.
Every chair is individually numbered for authenticity and longevity. A brass plaque under each seat marks its unique number.
The flag line seat is inspired by the original straw seat, honouring the original aesthetic, without risking the organic decay associated with natural straw. Fritz Hansen has used European, GMO- free flax for the flag line – 110 meters are woven by hand to create the beautiful, organic seat.
The frame is made from FSC-certified beech wood, meaning it comes from forests that are sustainably managed. Small changes to the seat height and backrest design have been made for comfort. And the chair is available in red and black lacquer to honor earlier versions of the design.
All in all, this is a homage to Magistretti and a decorative ‘must-have’ for collectors and fans of Magistretti design.
Carimate will be in stores from October 6, honoring Magistretti´s birthday.
