Fritz Hansen is pleased to announce the appointment of Els Van Hoorebeeck as Creative Director, effective November 2024. With an extensive background in design and a deep appreciation for Fritz Hansen’s legacy, Els will oversee the brand’s creative vision, ensuring a seamless balance between heritage and innovation.
As Creative Director, Els will lead the development of new collections, strengthen collaborations, and expand initiatives like the ReNEW program, which highlights repair, refurbishment, and longevity— a fundamental aspect of minimizing the environmental footprint.
Els sees her role as a “translator”, shaping the future of Fritz Hansen while preserving its distinctive DNA. “For a brand with such a rich archive, evolution—not revolution—is key,” she explains. “Fritz Hansen has always been synonymous with quality and craftsmanship. My focus is on honoring that legacy while ensuring our designs remain relevant for future generations.”
Before joining Fritz Hansen, Els spent nearly five years as Creative and Brand Director for &Tradition based in Copenhagen. Prior to this, she was Head of Interior Design for five years for The Office Group – a design led flexible workspace provider based in London. Els is educated in interior design from the LUCA School of Arts in her native Belgium and has previously worked as an interior designer for major design companies, including Vitra.
Henrik Steensgaard, CEO of Fritz Hansen, welcomes Els Van Hoorebeeck’s leadership: “Els brings an exceptional understanding of both design heritage and forward-thinking creativity. Her vision aligns with Fritz Hansen’s commitment to timeless craftsmanship and innovation. We look forward to seeing her elevate our creative direction in the years to come.”
With over 150 years of design history, Fritz Hansen continues to redefine modern interiors through its unwavering dedication to quality, longevity, and design excellence. Els Van Hoorebeeck’s appointment signals an exciting new chapter for the brand, ensuring its designs remain at the forefront of contemporary living.
