Fräsch Expands its Award-Winning STRATAWOOD Collection
Fräsch, a Catalyst Acoustics Group company specializing in innovative acoustical design and sustainable solutions, is pleased to announce an extension of its award-winning STRATAWOOD collection: STRATAWOOD 2×2. The addition maintains STRATAWOOD’s appearance and acoustic performance in a compact panel sized perfectly to fit into a standard 15/16” T-Grid ceiling.
The updated 2×2 design incorporates a 3/8” lip around all sides, making for exceptionally easy installation in a drop ceiling. Like its predecessor, STRATAWOOD 2×2 panels can be field cut to fit around obstacles, such as light fixtures and sprinkler heads. The size of the new design is also ideal for less expensive and more sustainable parcel shipping.

Matt Dickamore, VP of Creative for Denton House Design, inspired STRATAWOOD 2×2 after the configuration was tailored for use in the Metrodora Institute offices designed by Denton. “STRATAWOOD 2×2 not only provided the noise cancellation we needed on our project, but it also created a design element and enhanced the overall look and feel of the space,” he said. “Anyone who enters the space experiences a noticeable change in sound, but they would never know the decorative wood paneled ceiling was providing that comfort. This product is a fantastic design element for any commercial project. It warms up and elevates a space in both look and sound.”
Wood veneers offered in the 2×2 collection include the four most popular woodgrains from the original line: White Ash, Light Oak, Ebony, and Medium Walnut. These selections are stocked and available with short lead times. Coordinating brown and black Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) felt backings offer superior acoustical performance that cannot be achieved with ceilings made of only wood. Each piece is comprised of 9mm 100% PET with MDF wood veneer. The PET utilizes 55% post-consumer recycled content and is 100% recyclable. Wood components are FSC Chain of Custody certified.
