Sixteen years after inventing the office pod, Framery today unveils Gradus.
Named after the Latin word for step, it is an evolution in both form and function—an adaptive line of smart pods designed to align with the architecture of any space and the needs of its user. The three new models are made for the U.S. and Canada and assembled in the USA.
Designed to Blend in, or Stand Out
Gradus offers clients an integrated, ‘built-in’ design language, prioritizing architectural harmony and expanding choice alongside Framery’s aesthetically bold signature line. Characterized by clean lines and a minimalist silhouette, the new line honors the intentionality of the surrounding architectural landscape.
“Gradus reads the room: designed to blend into the architecture or stand out as the focal point,” says Joonas Vartola, CDO of Framery.
While the line launches in Framery’s iconic color scheme, it also serves as a canvas. A modular snap-on system allows the exterior to be covered in a range of wall panels where textures or finishes can be specified, including warm wood veneers, soft fabrics, or acoustic panels. Gradus is made to meet the worker in perfect alignment, removing friction for effortless flow. Users can just step inside and start, no setup required. Each model maximizes ergonomic interior volume within a minimal footprint:
• Gradus Focus™: A smart, soundproof phone booth for one person, designed for calls and focus work.
• Gradus Work™: A smart and soundproof workstation for one person, featuring a full-size adjustable desk and a spacious interior designed for uninterrupted flow.
• Gradus Huddle™: A smart and soundproof meeting pod for 1–4 people, optimally sized for spontaneous collaboration and confidential discussions.
A Quiet Connection Between Space and User
Gradus shares the same attention to detail, smart technology, and user experience as Framery’s signature line, ensuring no compromise on performance. The pods instantly sense the user, illuminate with natural daylight, create and release walk-in reservations automatically, and adjust airflow based on occupancy, humidity, and temperature. Once the door closes, office noise vanishes thanks to Class A soundproofing.
“We wanted to eliminate friction before the user even notices it,” says Henrik Ashorn, Product Director. “By automating the small details, we’re making the office responsive to the people inside it.”
Beyond the individual experience, Gradus acts as a diagnostic tool for the entire floor plan. By using anonymized usage data, the pods work with Framery’s smart office solutions to “rightsize” the workplace ensuring that the right space is always available exactly when it’s needed, helping offices eliminate the waste of oversized, empty conference rooms, and adding capacity wherever needed.
“Ultimately, Gradus knows its place,” says Vartola. “Just as its physical form defers to the architectural intent of the room, its technology aligns with the intent of the user. Both are engineered to elevate the workplace experience without demanding center stage.”
Assembled in USA: Focus, Work, and Huddle
To streamline logistics and deliver design at scale, Framery has localized assembly to Michigan, USA. Assembling Gradus in the heart of the U.S. manufacturing corridor ensures shorter lead times and local reliability for U.S. and Canadian projects. This localized approach protects customers from trade tensions and reduces the carbon footprint of transport.
The new line also provides a lower cost per square foot than fixed construction without sacrificing compliance. Rigorously tested for IBC, IFC, and UL 962 standards, the line meets the local building, fire, and seismic codes of any region in the U.S. and Canada.
“Gradus gives architects the freedom to design for privacy without locking their clients into a rigid layout or a heavy footprint,” says Ashorn. “It’s a high-performance asset that stays with the client, not the building.”
Enduring Form, Circular Function
In the U.S., the EPA estimates that roughly 80% of furniture industry products end up in landfills. Gradus is a direct response to this systemic waste, moving away from “fast furniture” toward a permanent, circular asset.
“Framery pods are built for heavy use; we have units in the field with tens of thousands of sessions,” says Vartola. “We need our workspace assets to last for decades, not just the length of a lease.”
The pods feature a fully modular build where every component is replaceable, allowing them to be repaired, refurbished, and updated over time. Durable materials extend the functional lifespan of each pod.
Framery provides third-party verified Environmental Product Declarations for the entire Gradus line. EPDs are publicly available, allowing organizations to rely on accurate data for their own value-chain reporting and carbon accounting.
“Designers require more than just good marketing; they ask for radical transparency,” says Vartola. “We’ve made sure Gradus EPDs are ready upon launch; sustainability claims are meaningless without them.”
Beyond product life cycles, Framery’s overall sustainability performance earned an EcoVadis Gold Medal. This achievement recognizes the company as being in the top 5% of all assessed companies in the industry.
Availability
The complete Gradus line will be unveiled at NeoCon 2026 available for specification beginning June 2026.
