The German Design Award, one of the most famous design and architecture competitions in Germany, has recently announced the winners for 2025. Lithuanian office furniture manufacturer UAB Narbutas International is among them. All four collections entered in the competition were recognised: the OFY chairs, ZooZoo coffee tables and poufs, PARTHOS meeting tables and acoustic columns as well as the ROUND Multipurpose tables.
These NARBUTAS products competed in the Excellent Product Design – Office Furniture category and received the Winner award of the three possible ones (Special Mention, Winner and Gold). The jury evaluated each product’s overall concept, design quality, functionality and sustainability.
The German Design Council, a non-profit organisation founded by the German government in 1953, decides on the German Design Award. Projects submitted for the award are judged by an independent international jury of over 30 experts distinguished in the fields of design, architecture and communication, working for leading companies and representing some of the world’s best universities. The competition receives over 5,000 entries from 60 different countries each year.
OFY
The collections entered in the competition are some of the latest in the NARBUTAS product range. They meet the needs of today’s offices, emphasise the importance of employee well-being and encourage creativity and collaboration. The two award-winning collections were created in collaboration with foreign designers – the ZooZoo collection of atypically high coffee tables and poufs was designed by American designer Annie Lee, while the OFY collection of office chairs was created by the Spanish studio Alegre Design. The ROUND Multipurpose tables and the PARTHOS collections of meeting tables and acoustic columns were developed by NARBUTAS’ in-house design and product development team.

In the assessment of the NARBUTAS collections, the jury of the German Design Award highlighted their multi-functionality and easy adaptability to various spaces with different purposes and designs. For example, the ZooZoo collection not only offers tables of a more comfortable height, but also allows you to make the most of the space – unused poufs can be tucked compactly under the coffee tables, and the niche in the pouf can be used to store items. Thanks to an abundant selection of accessories, the ROUND Multipurpose meeting tables can meet the needs of any team. Combining ergonomics and cosiness, the OFY collection of executive, task and visitor chairs is recommended for virtually any workspace – from an office to home office.
The award-winning PARTHOS collection of meeting tables offers a variety of heights, shapes and lengths, and when combined with acoustic columns, creates a unique unity of style. The jury of the German Design Award also singled out the PARTHOS acoustic columns for their compliance with the sustainable design principles, as hollow cylinders are filled with fabric off-cuts from manufacturing.
NARBUTAS has been participating in international design competitions since 2019. The company’s products have been recognised several times in the Red Dot, iF and Archello competitions. Narbutas International has won a total of eight German Design Awards so far.
