Formani Launches Its First Collaboration with Gensler: The RIVIO Collection
Formani, a global luxury brand specializing in high-quality architectural hardware, launched its new RIVIO collection on Feb. 16. The uniquely ergonomic collection was designed in collaboration with Gensler, the global architecture, design, and planning firm that served as product design consultant. This is the first collaboration between the two companies.
Transition was the watchword for Gensler when designing the RIVIO collection. Carved through the center of its circular section and transitioning from slender to solid, the flowing cutaway of the RIVIO handle allows the thumb and fingers to engage in a singularly natural way, affording a better grip that helps make opening and closing easier. Ergonomic and elegant, it is offered in two variations, with either a curve or a 90-degree angle leading to the neck and rose.
“For us, Gensler has always been decisive in the world of architecture and design. We operate globally in the same countries, where they create beautiful projects and make the world more beautiful through the power of design — a mission we certainly agree with, so it is a huge honor to work with them,” said Pim Aarts, Owner and Managing Director of Formani. “The design proves that even in the smallest details there can be a great impact.”
“We’re always striving to improve user experience with our designs, and this collection, with its unique ergonomics, is no exception,” said Scott Star, Director of Product Development and Co-Global Practice Area Leader at Gensler. “Whether used in a hospitality setting, residential environment, office, or retail space, the shapes are haptically engaging and make even the shortest of interactions easier and more enjoyable.”
The two variants of the RIVIO handle — curved or 90-degree angle — are the cornerstones of the RIVIO hardware collection, which consists of door fittings, window fittings, furniture fittings, and other accessories. Crafted of stainless steel, all RIVIO products come in four finishes: satin stainless steel, PVD satin gold, PVD satin black, and bronze powder coat.
