2015.1102.ProdIntro.FLOR.Leather RugsFLOR, manufacturer and marketer of design-inspired, eco-friendly carpet tiles, is launching its first line of leather rugs in partnership with British eco-designers Elvis & Kresse.

The Elvis & Kresse for FLOR line of leather rugs are handmade from reclaimed leather sourced from the finest tanneries in Britain. Elvis & Kresse have a long-standing mission of utilizing scrap or discarded materials to create beautiful, reimagined products.  The company made its mark by turning decommissioned fire hoses in the U.K. into a range of accessories—including belts, wallets and shoulder bags—with 50 percent of profits benefitting the London Fire Brigade.

ProdIntro.FLOR.Leather Rugs2Unlike other leather rugs, Elvis & Kresse for FLOR rugs incorporates a unique interlocking design process that creates optimal durability and beauty with varying patina and textures. The rugs are constructed from hundreds of hand-assembled, individually cut pieces of the finest quality leather. The process uses three separate shapes, which interlock to allow for amazing depth, tone and texture.

“Elvis & Kresse are master artisans whose portfolio of designs inspired us to collaborate on this line of leather rugs,” said Rick Kilmer, president, FLOR. “We are excited to bring our consumers a new, heirloom quality offering, that is in keeping with the FLOR and Interface commitment and passion to sustainable designs.”

The rugs come in three colors:  Black, Dark Brown and Caramel, and are naturally tanned leather. Three rug sizes are available: Small 2’ x 3’ (MSRP $480); Medium 4’ x 6’ (MSRP $1,880) and Large 5’ x 8’ (MSRP $3,210). The rugs are available at FLOR retail stores nationwide and on FLOR.com.
