ergoCentric wins German Design Award 2025 for the tCentric Hybrid™

Excellent Product Design – Office Furniture

ergoCentric proudly announces that the tCentric Hybrid task chair has received the prestigious German Design Award 2025 for Excellent Product Design – Office Furniture by the German Design Council. This accolade reaffirms what our customers, dealers, and ergonomists have long recognized: great design doesn’t have to compromise comfort or ergonomics – it can be driven by them.

The German Design Awards’ jury recognized the tCentric Hybrid for is ability to “provide personalized adjustment to users’ needs through its fully adjustable mechanism and customizable lumbar support” And stated “The use of sustainable materials highlights the commitment to eco-friendly solutions in the workplace, enhancing both comfort and productivity.”

At ergoCentric, we believe true innovation in task seating must address the real challenges people face from long hours of sitting while they work. This award validates the principles we’ve championed for over three decades: ergonomic excellence based on the science of sitting® can improve health and productivity and set a new standard for high-performance design.

A Unique Approach to Ergonomics and Design

Many designers fear that prioritizing ergonomics will result in bulky or unattractive products. But with the tCentric Hybrid, ergoCentric’s ergonomic focus inspired a striking and original design. Its prominent lumbar support, offering unmatched adjustability and comfort, became a defining aesthetic feature and earned a U.S. Design Patent.

The tCentric Hybrid was designed by ergoCentric’s founder, Terry Cassaday, and industrial designer Miles Keller. Together, they set out to create the first truly ergonomic mesh chair unrestricted by superficial design conventions. By combining the breathability of mesh with the ergonomic support of an upholstered chair, the tCentric Hybrid was created to accommodate a wide range of body types without sacrificing comfort or style.

“Winning the German Design Award is an incredible honor that validates our commitment to designing seating solutions that prioritize the individual’s needs.” said Terry Cassaday, Founder and CEO of ergoCentric. “The tCentric Hybrid is the result of our unwavering focus on combining ergonomic excellence with innovative design, and this recognition inspires us to continue redefining what is possible in office furniture.”
