Duravit Celebrates 10 Years of Partnership with EPA WaterSense

Another year, another milestone for Duravit USA! 2018 is officially Duravit’s tenth anniversary as a partner for EPA WaterSense – advocating for environmental solutions with sustainable toilet offerings.  Duravit has championed the cause of environmental responsibility for years in its selection of materials, technological applications, and production methods. All of Duravit’s wall- & floor-mounted toilets are WaterSense approved – meaning they use at least 20% less water than their counterparts, utilizing 1.28 or fewer gallons of water per flush (gpf). Duravit’s wall-mount toilets, featuring dual-flush technology, even boast an impressive 1.1 gpf. These rigorous standards save a family of four 13,000 gallons of water per year.

After celebrating 200 years of international success in 2017, 2018 marks another important anniversary for Duravit: Duravit USA has been a WaterSense partner for 10 years. With bathrooms responsible for more than 50% of the home’s indoor water use, Duravit has long prioritized water-saving capabilities in its toilet models, particularly its rich selection of wall-mounted toilets. Thanks to partners like Duravit, WaterSense has been able to save a cumulative 2.1 trillion gallons of water and more than $46.3 billion in water and energy bills.

“We’re proud to have been an EPA WaterSense partner since the program’s early days,” remarks Duravit USA President Tim Schroeder. “One of Duravit’s goals is to offer everyone the choice of a sustainable bathroom without compromising design. We remain dedicated to maintaining this standard and look forward to pushing ourselves even further in support of the environment.”

WaterSense products use at least 20% less water than their counterparts, and all Duravit wall- and floor-mounted toilets are WaterSense approved. This endorsement means that these Duravit products comply with the EPA’s rigorous performance mandate for High Efficiency Toilets (HET), which is 1.28 or fewer gallons per flush (gpf). Duravit’s wall-mount toilets, featuring dual-flush technology, allow for an effective 1.1 gpf. This lower than average amount still maintains high performance results and would save a family of four 13,000 gallons of water per year.

Beyond water-saving, Duravit has championed the cause of environmental responsibility for years in its selection of materials, technological applications, and production methods. Sustainability is the very reason Duravit continues to work with sanitary ceramic, a material that dates back to 8,000 BC. Today, the manufacture of Duravit sanitary ceramic employs the same basic materials – clay, kaolin, feldspar and quartz – a set of natural, regenerative substances. This fusion of Duravit’s environmentally-friendly production technologies with the company’s meticulous quality control results in products that are highly functional and long-lasting.
