DLR Group’s Workplace Studio Adds Client Leader in Dallas

Gary Pitts will partner with design teams to grow the firm’s core and shell business across the state of Texas and nationwide.

Gary Pitts, AIA, LEED AP, has joined DLR Group as a client leader for the firm’s Workplace Studio. Based in Dallas, Pitts will partner with local teams to grow the firm’s core and shell business across the state of Texas and will collaborate with national core and shell teams to expand the firm’s reach across the country.

“Gary’s experience working on a wide variety of project types brings a unique skillset to our practice,” said DLR Group Principal Jo Heinz, FIIDA, who leads the firm’s  Workplace Studio in Texas. “His passion and expertise will be an invaluable asset as we seek to grow our Workplace Studio in the core and shell project types.”

Pitts is a native Texan and graduate of Texas Tech. Throughout his more than three decades of experience, he has designed environments for multiple sectors including banking, corporate, mission critical, multifamily, and retail. Because of this experience, Pitts has developed an extensive knowledge of building codes, accessibility laws, and sustainability goals that allows him to guide DLR Group’s Workplace clients and design teams through the intricacies of today’s corporate office spaces.

“I have spent my career adapting to the ever-changing needs not only of buildings, but also of the people who occupy those buildings,” said Pitts. “For DLR Group’s Workplace clients, it’s essential that we provide a space that’s well-designed from the inside out. Doing so helps ensure our workforce is safe, healthy, and productive, and can also positively impact local enterprises and economies. I get a lot of personal fulfillment and satisfaction knowing I’ve contributed to such prosperity.”

A LEED-certified professional, Pitts is also accredited in LEED v4, a program designed to improve green building practices and encourage projects to invest in sustainable design solutions. He is actively involved in industry organizations including the American Institute of Architects, Bisnow Dallas, the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors, and previously collaborated with the Urban Land Institute on a case study of one of his projects exploring redevelopment of a critical block in the Dallas Central Business District.
