Local Not-for-profit Organization Celebrates Advancements in the Fight Against HIV/AIDS by Raising Funds and Awareness at Truly Dynamite, Disco-themed Affair
What: The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS/Chicago (DIFFA/Chicago) Auxiliary Board will host its sixth annual DIFFArence event on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at the (former) Coyne College Building in Chicago’s Fulton Market District. The evening will follow suit with previous year’s “DIFFArence” events with an exciting disco inferno theme to heat up the conversation around the organization’s ongoing efforts. Design and business professionals will get their groove on in sequence and flare jumpsuits to celebrate the advancements made towards the HIV/AIDS community.
The event location, which was donated by Sterling Bay, could not be more fitting acoustically and offers plenty of space for guests to get down to Funky Town, with 70s hits played by local DJ Josh Zietler. To support the theme, guests will be encouraged to take part in a lip-syncing competition to determine the ultimate “Disco Diva.” In between battles, guests can quench their thirst with beer donated by Lagunitas, Korbel donated by Brown-Forman or sample small bites from the evening’s caterer, PORTER by FOUR CORNERS.
Once the dancing winds down, raffle winners will be announced featuring high-end items and experiences such as a Grin Chair from National Office Furniture, a koi cotton velvet pillow from Maharam or a gift certificate for a Reiki Energy Healing Session. All raffle and ticket sales proceeds will go toward the DIFFA/Chicago Excellence In Care Awards that are granted each year to Chicago-area service agencies that provide assistance, education and outreach to those living with HIV/AIDS.
Sterling Bay will serve as the evening’s host sponsor, while Leopardo will serve as the presenting sponsor. Platinum sponsors include Herman Miller and Henricksen. Gold sponsors include Allermuir and J&J Flooring. Silver sponsors include Allsteel, Allsteel Beyond, Bernhardt, Chicago Roof Deck + Garden, Color Inc, Concertex, DL Couch, Global, HBF Textiles, HON, Kaufman Segal, Kelso Burnett, OFS and Ruder Group. Chief Monitor Arms and ESI will support the event as theme sponsors.

About DIFFA/Chicago: DIFFA/Chicago (The Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS) is a not-for-profit fundraising and grant-making foundation that distributes funds to Chicago area HIV/AIDS service agencies to provide direct services, preventative education and outreach to people who are HIV positive, living with AIDS or at-risk for infection. Founded in 1984, DIFFA has granted more than $40 million to hundreds of community-based organizations nationwide.
Eight years ago, in an effort to continue DIFFA’s reputation for innovation in fundraising, DIFFA/Chicago created an Auxiliary Board consisting of Chicago’s young design and business professionals. Our mission is to expand awareness of the growing effect of HIV/AIDS within the Chicago community to a more extensive audience.
