Design Milk Launches The Brave New World of Design on April 21

While learning to navigate this unprecedented situation and to live and work in our new normal, the Design Milk team developed conversations on The Brave New World of Design, launching on April 21 on @designmilk IGTV, that will address what life would look like after COVID-19 for the design community.

The series will take the form of brief, intimate highly-focused videos from Design Milk’s broad community of architects, designers, educators, organizers, and leaders who will weigh in on important topics like:

  • What is the future of cities?
  • Why is wellness as important as ever?
  • We can all agree life will be profoundly different on the other side of this pandemic, but what does that different look like?
  • How might COVID-19 change the future of kitchen design?
  • What is the future of the art world and how will AR/VR impact it?
  • How the new WFH culture could impact the future of real estate holdings? and more..

Speakers include Director of the Connected Cities Lab at University of Melbourne Michele Acuto, former DWR CEO John Edelman, Debbie Millman of podcast Design Matters, Gregg Buchbinder of Emeco, RISD President Rosanne Somerson, CEO of ASID Randy Fiser, Joseph White of Herman Miller and others.

Committed to sharing information, telling stories and creating conversation, the Design Milk team knew things might not go back to the way they were. But what would it look like?

“What initially started as a simple panel discussion has turned into a day-long event. I wanted to speak with experts and ask the many questions I had surrounding the ripple effects that COVID-19 might bring. As I started writing down my questions, I realized the list became too long for just one panel discussion, too diverse for a webinar, but perfect for quick video bites on IGTV,” says Jaime Derringer, founder and chief creative officer of Design Milk.
