About Clarissa Hulse:

Clarissa Hulse is an artist and homeware designer, infinitely inspired by nature and color. Most days, you’ll find her working out of her light-filled studio, a stone’s throw away from Highbury Fields in London. But on magical days, when the skies are glowing, and every stem, grass and wildflower is lit with golden light, you’ll find her in the countryside, camera in hand, collecting references for her next botanical collection.

Clarissa’s story begins with a nomadic childhood, where the challenge of making a new home in different places, ignited a passion for interiors. Her British diplomat father and Greek mother moved the family from the Czech Republic to Thailand, Belgium, Spain, Italy and Greece to name but a few.

Clarissa studied textiles at Brighton Art College and moved up to London to start her business making hand-printed scarves. After being spotted early on by a buyer from Barney’s department store, the orders started flooding in, from Liberty’s of London to Neiman Marcus in New York. Before long she was hand-printing and dyeing scarves day and night – exhausting but happy days!

In the early 2000’s, Clarissa started designing homewares and has been making colorful, nature-inspired designs ever since. She has built a reputation for creating luxurious fabrics and wallpapers, in distinctive ombre palettes featuring graceful botanical silhouettes. “Whether I’m scouring the countryside for beautiful seedheads, hand printing designs in the studio or packing up orders with the team – I am lucky to be able to do a job that I am so passionate about. I hope to bring some of my deep love of the beauty in nature into your homes.”
