NienkƤmper today announced that it has been honored with the 2015 GOOD DESIGN award for the Cern table designed by figforty.

GOOD DESIGN is an international symbol of a company’s firm commitment to innovation and superior design embodiment. ā€œThe GOOD DESIGN Award recognizes excellence in innovation, construction, function and utility.”

ā€œThe Good Design Award is welcome recognition of our continued focus on design and integrated technology. Every aspect of the design has been carefully considered achieving a classic design with sophisticated detailing and the latest technologyā€, said Klaus NienkƤmper.

Cern is a modern interpretation of a classic harvest table. Perfect for any interior space, the Cern table features essential design and formal lightness. Lovely to look at from all angles, Cernā€™s uninterrupted glass top reveals the essence of its design; the graceful solid wood leg which is met with a seemingly sculptural corner element of polished aluminum – like a jewel in a glass case. Also revealed is a continuous ring in anodized aluminum with the intelligence to discretely manage a variety of electrical systems eliminating the need for cut outs on the tables glass surface. The scale of the table is optimized for smaller meeting rooms, collaborative team work and with the addition of a modesty panel and other accessories for private office desks.

Its size range (up to 96ā€) allows for glass to be used without a sub-top and the use of solid wood legs and corner connections that express Cernā€™s true design intent. The table legs are available in either solid walnut or solid maple with a variety of finishes, as well as an aluminum leg option.
