In 2017, the citizens of Copenhagen will not only be able to ski down the cleanest power plant on the planet – their perceptions of what a power plant can be, will be challenged by an art piece that raises awareness about our carbon emissions. The worldās first-ever steam-ring generator will puff out a smoke-ring for every ton of CO2 burned in the plant, projecting our carbon footprint into the Copenhagen sky to inform citizens of the impact we have on the world around us.
The BIG Ideas unit spearheaded by Partner Jakob LangeĀ is designing the third and final generator prototype to prove that the technology to make the rings will work on a larger scale. Based on an original art proposal by the Berlin-based artistsĀ realities:united, BIG Ideas is working in collaboration with aerospace organization PeterMadsen’s Rumlaboratorium and the Danish Technical UniversityĀ to realize the project.Ā This final iteration will be one-third the size of the final product, making the approval and installation of the real thing possible.
The team of artists, rocket scientists, combustion engineers and designers will come one step closer through the support generated viaĀ Kickstarter.
