The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has approved the revised safety and performance standard: ANSI/BIFMA X5.6-2016, Panel Systems – Tests.
The X5.6-2016 standard defines the specific tests, laboratory equipment, conditions of test, and recommended minimum levels to be used in the testing and evaluation of the safety, durability, and structural adequacy of Panel Systems products.
In addition to all of the revisions listed in the Annex, the ANSI/BIFMA X5.6-2016 Panel Systems standard incorporates new tests for Access Doors along with an Informative Annex for Full-Height Relocatable Walls.
The BIFMA Subcommittee for Panel Standards worked diligently for the past two years to revise this standard. The Subcommittee conducted reviews of the draft proposals to ensure the tests were sound. Thanks to the hard work of the BIFMA Subcommittee, the standard was finalized and approved by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on January 8, 2016.
Copies of the new standard are available from BIFMA immediately. This and other standards may be ordered online at https://www.bifma.org/store/ListProducts.aspx?catid=185078.
