The NY Metro Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) announces the 2018/2019 Chapter Board. Sworn in on October 2nd at the Annual Meeting, President-Elect Kim Radovich assumed the chapter’s top leadership position. She takes the reigns from President Bjorn Bjornsson. The Chapter Officers each bring a wealth of industry knowledge to their respective position.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve as the next President of this prestigious and important industry organization,” says Radovich. “ASID NY Metro represents the best of what the interior design community has to offer. The focus of my term is to raise the profile of this of exceptional Chapter of ASID by offering industry wide events, collaborating with industry partners and associate members alike, and providing resources to our student members to continue to build our base.”
Radovich adds, “My mantra has always been and will continue to be ‘A rising tide lifts all boats.’ The mission of the incoming board reflects this; we will educate, empower, and elevate the interior design profession to positively impact our members and the communities we serve.”
The 2018/2019 Chapter Officers represent a rich mix of Designers, Industry Professionals and Emerging Professionals. In addition to Kim, newly sworn in members include President Elect Alyssa Grella, Finance Director Jennifer Minsky and Membership Director Claire Druga. New Professional Development Director Brian Gallop assumed his role over the summer. Keith Jones, Emerging Professional Chair and Diana Mosher, Communications Director are returning to fulfill their second year of service. Benjamin Huntington also continues as At-Large Director and Lucy Wang as Student Representative to the Board.
Kim Radovich
President
Kim Radovich has a mission—restoring integrity to design—and as principal of Kim Radovich Interiors and Kim E. Courtney Home she accomplishes this with every project. Whether it’s lovingly preserving an historic estate or infusing new construction with classic detail, Kim is committed to delivering the utmost in quality and design for both residential and commercial clients. Trained at the prestigious Parsons School of Design, her extensive background in fine arts informs her signature style. Her firm offers a multitude of services including space planning, consulting, custom furniture design, architectural detailing, feng shui and sustainable design. With residential and commercial projects on the Gold Coast of Long Island, New York City and across the U.S., she and her design team of consummate professionals also enjoy international design commissions. Kim and her work can be seen featured in many national publications including: Architectural Digest, Better Homes and Gardens, Traditional Home, NY Cottages & Gardens and The New York Times. Kim is honored to contribute to a variety of charitable venues, and has offered her design expertise to showhouses benefitting organizations such as The Ronald McDonald House of LI, Pink Aid, The American Heart Association, Family Service League and many more.
Alyssa Grella
President-Elect
Alyssa Grella of Studio Grella in Glen Cove, New York heads a successful firm that’s passionate about the design process. Alyssa’s goal is to intrigue and inspire her clients with solutions that embrace refined, bespoke design. She believes that design is a collaborative process between project teams, clients, vendors and trades. The result is custom spaces tailored to make her client’s vision a reality. Recent projects include Garvies Point, a waterfront redevelopment project in Glen Cove; The Ritz Carlton Residence in North Hills; as well as upscale restaurants and private residences on Long Island and in the New York metro area. Studio Grella specializes in interior design for residential and hospitality clients. In 2017, Alyssa was recognized with an ASID NY Metro Chapter award for Model Apartment Design, an honor that reflects her commitment to fine design as well as her skill as a designer. A member of the NY Metro Chapter of ASID since she was a student representative to the board from her days at The School of Visual Arts, Alyssa believes in honing her professional skills and holds NCIDQ and LEED AP designations. Known for designing environments that are timeless, Alyssa creates engaging designs of lasting value.
Jennifer Minsky
Financial Director
Jennifer always had a strong passion for art and design. Graduating with a degree in Fashion Design, Jennifer has more than 10 years of experience working in luxury sales and visual merchandising for the Gucci and Fendi stores in New York. Since 2012, Jennifer has been the District Sales Manager of New York Metro for Hansgrohe, a German manufacturer of luxury faucets and shower fixtures. In this role, she uses her design expertise and her strength in sales and customer service. She also supports the Manhattan community of architects and designers throughout the metropolitan area by selecting products to fulfill the specification needs of her clients. In addition to her product role for Hansgrohe, Jennifer also provides continuing education courses on topics such as Universal Design, Selling Luxury, Water Sense, and Behind the Wall Plumbing Secrets. Jennifer enjoys volunteering her time to organize local chapter events and is proud to be a member of the ASID community.
Claire Druga
Membership Director
Claire began her journey with ASID as a student in the ASID Carolinas chapter, winning an award in the ASID Otto Zenke healthcare design competition her senior year. She received her B.S. in Interior Design from Appalachian State University in 2015 and dreamt of starting her design career in New York. After graduation, Claire took the leap of faith and moved to New York without a job, but with the determination to connect with the ASID NY Metro chapter. At the first ASID NY event she attended, the graduation party, she received a warm welcome, won an ASID Design Summit ticket, and left with job opportunities and a sense of a vibrant, supportive community. Claire continued to grow as a designer with ASID by participating in numerous events as well as by joining the Emerging Professional Committee and the Professional Development Committee. She also thoroughly enjoys the Emerging Professional events series that has exposed her to amazing designers and numerous behind-the-scenes tours. Claire’s work experience includes positions for residential interior designers as well as a design consultant for the Daltile Marazzi Design Studio. Claire is currently working toward NCIDQ certification and provides freelance interior design services in New York. She looks forward to connecting with members and giving back to the community that has enriched her design life so much.
Brian Gallop
Professional Development Director
Brian recently moved to Manhattan where he assumed the position of Ferguson Plumbing Territory Sales Manager in the New York Region. He brings a wealth of experience and excellent ideas to his current position as ASID NY Metro Professional Development Director, which he assumed in July. Brian has been an ASID member since 2007 and a board member in the Arizona Chapter of ASID up until his recent move to New York. He is known for producing innovative and engaging industry events that build enduring relationships between brands and designers and develop brand recognition within the construction and design community. In Scottsdale, he was a waterware specialist and brand lliaison at Ferguson Plumbing since September 2015. Previously, at Central Arizona Supply in Phoenix, his responsibilities included showroom designer, social media and VIP events coordinator, TV personality and liaison for industry partners. An enthusiastic volunteer, Brian has been active with the American Cancer Society, Susan G. Komen Fundraising, the Chrysalis Shelter and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona.
Diana Mosher
Communications Director
Diana Mosher is an interior designer and media consultant based in New York. Diana earned a degree from New York School of Interior Design while working as a real estate and design editor. During that time her design education was enriched by on-the-job experiences and opportunities not available to other design students. As an editor-in-chief she interviewed many influential architects and product designers and has traveled to design fairs all over the world—insights gleaned as a journalist now enable her to share with design clients a unique perspective and a broad array of sourcing resources. In particular, Diana has a deep knowledge of the multifamily industry and what will resonate with renters and buyers in the marketplace. Drawing from this expertise, her business Diana Mosher Associates provides real estate investors a range of business-driven design services from improving curb appeal to lobby redesign and staging model apartments. Diana’s eclectic design aesthetic has also been shaped by childhood influences. Her father was a creative director in a global advertising firm and the family was transferred from New York to Germany, Mexico and then Venezuela.
Benjamin Huntington
Director at Large
Benjamin Huntington, born and educated in England, completed a BA with honors at Kingston University and then apprenticed with an exclusive London based architectural firm. During his ten years there he mastered the highest level of fine cabinetry design and detailing in a full range of architectural periods. Benjamin has designed and overseen projects ranging from town houses to large country estates for a wide variety of clients. After becoming the youngest associate of the firm he opened and headed their New York office in 1987 and worked on a number of prestigious designs for an exclusive set of International clients. Benjamin opened his own New York based design studio in 1991 specializing in high quality total interior refurbishments. Since then he has completed a broad range of projects from a 15,000 square foot ski chalet to a 12′ wide brownstone.
Keith Jones
Emerging Professionals Chair
Keith is North America Accounts Manager at Drummonds. Previously he worked as the Kitchen & Bath Manager for Cosentino, a Spanish company which produces the largest amount of manufactured quartz surfaces. His design background stems from his studies at Parsons School of Design in New York and Paris. Keith began his career working with some of the most well-known fashion brands and department stores such as Giorgio Armani, Lacoste and Macy’s in visual and merchandising roles. Today, he works with several of the top kitchen and bath designers at design studios and designer firms in New York where he specifies design expertise and suggestions for materials. Keith enjoys offering his ideas and suggestions on various types of projects. Over the past two years he worked closely with the designers at Kips Bay Designer Show House by suggesting the surfaces in their kitchen designs. Although he enjoys all aspects of interior design, the kitchen and bath is where he spends most of his creative time designing. In his spare time Keith is working on expanding his love for interior design by building his own network of clients for design projects. Keith specializes in creative solutions for small spaces.
Lucy Wang
Student Representative to the Board
Born in the U.K. and raised in Taiwan, Lucy Wang moved to New York in 2016 as an M.F.A student of Interior Design at Pratt Institute. Prior to her enrollment at Pratt, Lucy attained her Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University and practiced undergraduate research at the Yerkes National Primate Center. Embracing her newfound creative career, she has accomplished many initiatives raising the profile of student members during her involvement with the New York Metro Chapter of ASID.
