ASID NY Chapter February Events

As the design season kicks into high gear, the ASID New York Metro Chapter is getting into the action with two accredited events geared to educate, engage and inform its members and the industry at large. ASID CEO Randy Fiser will travel to New York on February 15 to participate in a conversation with Elizabeth Miles of Delos Solutions that addresses how designers can harness the built environment as a vehicle to support human health and well-being. Later in the month, ASID NY Metro Partner IDLNY: Interior Designers for Legislation in New York bring together experienced industry leaders to help guide attendees through the interior design certification process for New York State and present an update on a new petition for the state legislature – fighting for important rights for interior designers.

The ASID NY Metro Chapter is also proud to support IDLNY. The industry coalition will host the second in its series of workshops for NY design professionals. Entitled “The Road to NYSCID – Registration’s Impact on the Interior Design Profession,” the CEU-accredited program will take place on February 22, 2017 at 6 in the OFS Showroom (1250 Broadway Suite 3501, New York, NY). Experienced industry leaders will help to demystify the NYSCID process and assist with insight and strategy for navigating professional certification. Interested attendees can register at info@idlny.org. The events are part of IDLNY’s ongoing efforts to promote the Interior Design profession and advance the rights of practicing designers. In addition to aiding designers on the path to certification, the coalition is working hard to secure the right to permit authority, the right to be paid for one’s work through lien rights, and the right to a promotion and/or to establish or own a design firm.

About ASID

The American Society of Interior Designers believes that design transforms lives. ASID serves the full range of the interior design profession and practice through the Society’s programs, networks, and advocacy. We thrive on the strength of cross-functional and interdisciplinary relationships among designers of all specialties, including workplace, healthcare, retail and hospitality, education, institutional, and residential. We lead interior designers in shared conversations around topics that matter: from evidence-based and humancentric design to social responsibility, well-being, and sustainability. We showcase the impact of design on the human experience and the value interior designers provide.

ASID was founded over 40 years ago when two organizations became one, but its legacy dates back to the early 1930s. As we celebrate nearly 85 years of industry leadership, we are leading the future of interior design, continuing to integrate the advantages of local connections with national reach, of small firms with big, and of the places we live with the places we work, play, and heal. The ASID New York Metro Chapter represents approximately 1800 members including 900 Designers, 600 Industry Partners and 300 Student members. It offers a rich program of engaging educational and social events in collaboration with the extensive resources of the New York design community. Learn more at asidnymetro.org.
