In partnership with Emerald Expositions, ASID will bring “Design Impacts Lives” mission to leading trade show
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) is headed to New York for the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF), May 19-22 at the Jacob K. Javits Center. ICFF is North America’s platform for global design, hosting more than 900 international exhibitors showcasing the latest news and innovations in luxury interior design. The show attracts approximately 38,000 design industry professionals annually. This year, ASID will provide rich education offerings and a new awards program as part of the Society’s partnership with Emerald Expositions, bringing custom, targeted activations to their extensive roster of design trade shows.
Explains Randy Fiser, Hon. FASID, CEO, ASID, “ICFF is looked to industry wide for its boundary-pushing design trends and advances. It is a hotbed for new ideas and innovations. We’re excited for the opportunity to interact one-on-one throughout the show with its attendees, understand their needs and challenges in the industry, and demonstrate the multitude of ways design impacts lives.”
ASID will present a new awards program to shine light on ICFF’s top products. The ASID DESIGN IMPACT Awards will recognize innovative products that put people and the environment at the center of design intent. ASID and Emerald Expositions will feature the awards at all Emerald design-related shows in 2019.
ASID will also offer tailored programming and education sessions throughout ICFF that speak to the event’s design-forward audience. Sessions include:

Human emotion is uniquely tied to human behavior. An individual’s emotional connection to a space, environment, or culture can provide a strong sense of belonging. This is valuable for developing engagement within spaces we design. As designers, we have the ability to impact behaviors through our design decisions. We must be mindful of this power as we seek a deeper meaning, experience, or contribution to society with our work. It’s important to continuously understand our audience and build spaces that represent a greater purpose and relationship to the activities that happen within, inspiring users and reaching their hearts and minds. In today’s world, everything is so highly competitive and constantly evolving that when designers create purpose-driven spaces, they develop a level of captivation and engagement with the environment which sets them apart.

About ASID
The American Society of Interior Designers believes that design transforms lives. ASID serves the full range of the interior design profession and practice through the Society’s programs, networks, and advocacy. We thrive on the strength of cross-functional and interdisciplinary relationships among designers of all specialties, including workplace, healthcare, retail and hospitality, education, institutional, and residential. We lead interior designers in shared conversations around topics that matter: from evidence-based and human-centric design to social responsibility, well-being, and sustainability. We showcase the impact of design on the human experience and the value interior designers provide.
ASID was founded over 40 years ago when two organizations became one, but its legacy dates back to the early 1930s. As we celebrate nearly 85 years of industry leadership, we are leading the future of interior design, continuing to integrate the advantages of local connections with national reach, of small firms with big, and of the places we live with the places we work, play, and heal.
