ASID Announces 2023 Student Portfolio Competition Winners
Program Highlights Remarkable Design Work of Students Across USA
The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has announced the winners of its 2023 Student Portfolio Competition. Highlighting bright minds in design, the competition features an extensive submission and rigorous judging process and generates the best collection of student design portfolios in the nation.
Submissions for the competition were evaluated on conceptual thought, the content of work submitted, and the student’s record of achievement.
The 2023 Student Portfolio Competition winners are: Corinne Smith, Student ASID; Elizabeth Perry Turner, Student ASID; and Cece Witherspoon, Student ASID. ASID also honors the competition’s finalists: Mary Armintrout, Student ASID; Sarah Choudhary, Student ASID; Marcela Goris, Student ASID; Valerie Lange, Student ASID; Emma Street, Student ASID; and Hayden Wyrick, Student ASID.
“ASID is committed to supporting the next generation of excellence in design,” said Khoi Vo, CEO, ASID. “The winners and finalists of this year’s Student Portfolio Competition, in addition to all of the submissions, showcase some of the top student design projects in the U.S. As a former educator, I am proud that ASID can uplift students, showcase their work and provide them resources for their continued growth in the interior design industry.”
ASID Student Portfolio Competition winners and finalists receive complimentary access to GATHER 2023, the National Conference by ASID, held in Los Angeles, CA August 13-15, where winners will formally present their portfolios and design processes. Winners also receive a scholarship to help further their interior design journey and empower them in their chosen careers.

Corinne Smith | Student ASID, Savannah College of Art and Design:
Smith is currently a student at the Savannah College of Art and Design pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an Interior Design minor. Color, sustainability, functionality, and diversity are at the forefront of Smith’s mind when considering the built environment. Her goal, with these principles in mind, is to design spaces that promote better focus and happiness to make people feel welcomed. View their portfolio.
Elizabeth Perry Turner | Student ASID, Texas Tech University:
Turner, born and raised in Austin, Texas, is an interior and environmental design graduate student with a passion for evidence-based and human-centered design. With her focus on interior design and its visible impact on individuals, society and the environment, Turner’s portfolio outlines her community involvement, work experience and design projects that outline her dedication to helping and serving others. Cece Witherspoon | Student ASID, George Washington University:
Witherspoon is a graduate student at the Corcoran School of Arts & Design at George Washington University working towards a master’s degree in interior architecture. Her interest in interior design focuses on spatial planning along with creating engaging and functional spaces. Witherspoon’s degree, paired with an undergraduate degree in Art and History, guides her approach to design as she uses each to inform her process of conducting research, analytical thinking, and visualization.
