Artaic Announces Official Call for Entries for Annual Design ‘N Gather Competition
Entries Will be Accepted Through September 1st
Artaic, designer and fabricator of architecturally compelling mosaics, has officially opened the call for entries for Design ‘N Gather, the company’s annual design competition now in its fifth year. This year, the jury-selected winner will have their digital artwork translated into a permanent mosaic installation set inside the rooftop Cupola of Sydell Group’s The NoMad Hotel, a historic landmark property in Manhattan. The contest, which is free to enter, has begun accepting online entries now through September 1, 2018.
Teaming up with The Sydell Group on selecting their compelling Manhattan site for the contest, and Boutique Design magazine, Design ‘N Gather will unveil the winning design inside the Cupola during BDNY 2018. The annual competition, which was founded by Artaic in 2013, encourages designers from all disciplines — architecture, product design, fashion, interior design, photography, painting, furniture design, and any other creative field — to create a one-of-a-kind piece that will have a lasting impact on the space and on the individuals that experience it. Participants must be over 21 years of age and currently reside within the U.S. and Canada.
Throughout the summer contest period, participants are asked to visit https://designngather.com to download Artaic’s proprietary and easy to use design software, Tylist™, which will arm them with a design template for the inside of the Cupola as well as background and inspiration to help with the creative journey. Utilizing Vitreous Glass in 3/8” or 3/4”, or in combination of the two sizes, entrants can choose from over 100 different tile colors, as well as any of Bostik’s Dimension RapidCure Grout color variations, to create a design that includes the ceiling and the walls, up to the existing cabinetry of the Cupola. They also have the option of extending this scope to also include the sidewalls of the ribs.
Through a blind judging process, 10 finalists will be selected in September based on the originality, execution, and successful interpretation of thematic elements relating to The NoMad Hotel ‘s iconic rooftop Cupola. Each of the finalists will receive a personal tour of Artaic facilities with Founder & CEO Ted Acworth, during their next visit to Boston, Massachusetts, decorative sample booklet of their design, and two tickets for the Design ‘N Gather 2018 unveiling event in November.
One winner will be chosen from the grouping of finalists and have their mosaic permanently installed and unveiled at a private event at The Nomad Hotel on November 11th, in conjunction with this year’s Boutique Design New York (BDNY) trade show and conference. In addition to having their mosaic installed, the winner will also receive a trip for two to Paris, valued at $5,000, courtesy of Bostik.
