-24th edition commemorating 70 years of the brand’s history
-Since its inception in 2001, 35,700 designers from 128 countries have participated
At a ceremony held at Andreu World’s new showroom, the Valencian multinational unveiled the winning project of the 24th International Design Contest, a special edition focused on its 70-year history under the slogan “Manufacturing a Better World.”

This year, the first prize of €5,000 was awarded to Slip Chair (France) by Aglaé Poisson. The jury highlighted the project’s lightness, freshness, and minimalist character, along with its well-resolved chromatic versatility and the possibility of replacing components, thus reinforcing a circular life cycle. Its biomaterial cushion, wrapped in a cotton mesh that evokes traditional craft techniques, revisits traditional upholstery methods with a woven structural system that replaces seams and offers an innovative approach to contemporary manufacturing challenges.

The second prize, worth €2,500, was awarded to Lou Chair & Table (Spain), by Gerard Arbués. This minimalist design invites reflection on the use of public space, questioning conventional ways of interacting with it. It encourages more natural postures, even at floor level, and redefines the idea of a “chair” through its stackability, adaptability, and the way it can be used to create multiple configurations.
The jury, composed of leading figures in design, architecture, communication, and sustainability, such as Pilar Marcos (Interior Design, Spain), Erwan Bouroullec (Industrial Designer, France), Sonia Manchanda (World Design Organization, India), and the creative duo of Anna Devís and Daniel Rueda (Photographers and Architects, Spain), evaluated more than 200 projects. In addition to the main prize, honorable mentions were also awarded to three designs that stood out for their creativity and conceptual relevance: Reobliq, by American designer Jamison Sweat; Banco 5 Notas, developed by Aran Anyó (Spain); and One 4 All, by Japanese designer Takuro Yamamoto. Each of these projects offers a unique vision committed to contemporary design values, reinforcing the diversity and international scope of the contest.

Since its inception in 2001, a total of 35,700 young designers from 128 countries have participated in the contest, consolidating it as one of the longest-running and most prestigious competitions in the world.
At the award ceremony, French designer Erwan Bouroullec took part in a conference moderated by journalist Anatxu Zabalbeascoa. During the conference, he emphasized that contemporary furniture must respond to new ways of living and inhabiting spaces, confessed his obsession with movement, and shared his main sources of inspiration: history and science fiction.

With this special edition, Andreu World reaffirms its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and design culture, values that have guided the company throughout its 70-year history. The International Design Contest was created with the aim of promoting emerging talent and new perspectives capable of transforming our environment. Today, more than two decades later, it continues to be a meeting point between generations, disciplines, and perspectives, a creative laboratory that envisions the future of design in a world that needs better solutions.
Celebrating this anniversary with the slogan Manufacturing a Better World not only honors the company’s history but also underscores its purpose: to continue building a more sustainable, humane, and innovative future.
