Aimée Wilder looks to the Roman sea god in her newest wallpaper and fabric collection, Neptunian, an exploration of underwater life. Like the unpredictable nature of the sea, Neptunian represents the ever-changing landscape of water in its movement and life; the stunning patterns and motifs in the designs emerge from Wilder’s own scuba diving and snorkeling experiences, and create allure with their flowing watercolors and ambiguous forms.
“I’ve always been captivated by the textural beauty of sea life,” says Wilder. “I translated that feeling into these lively patterns through the use of a new process, including watercolor and pigment printing, so that the designs emulate the elegant complexity of nature.”
Like the depths of the seas from which the creatures that inspired the patterns hail, the backgrounds have a swirling beauty that underscores the mysteries of the deep. Coming in rich and romantic shades, including a sophisticated copper tone hailing from ancient times, Secret Language, Anemone and Sea Ray are wallpaper patterns, hand painted with watercolors using Wilder’s signature quality. Fabrics, pillows, and poufs will be offered in Raja, which is a slight variation on Secret Language, Sea Ray, and Anemone.
