AIA Chicago Announces Juried Award Finalists for Designight 2024

Awards to be given on September 5th at Designight 2024, AIA Chicago‘s signature award program, at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park

AIA Chicago, the second largest local chapter of The American Institute of Architects and the collective voice of over 4,000 licensed architects, emerging professionals, architecture students, and allied professionals, on Aug. 13 announced the finalists for the 2024 Design Excellence Awards, Decarbonization Award, Divine Detail Award and Roberta Feldman Architect for Social Justice Awards.

The award recipients will be announced at Designight 2024, honoring Chicago architects’ global design achievements, which will be held at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park on Thursday, September 5, 2024.

“AIA Chicago members at firms of all sizes are designing high-quality architecture all over the globe,” said AIA Chicago’s Executive Director Jen Masengarb. “This year, small firms composed of 10 people or fewer represent over 60% of all finalists.”

The Roberta Feldman Architecture for Social Justice Award, administered by the AIA Chicago Foundation, was established in 2020 to honor excellence in built projects and design programs guided by the conviction that access to high quality architecture is not a privilege, it is a human right. Other awards to be given at Designight 2024 on September 5 include the AIA Chicago 2024 Lifetime Achievement Award bestowed on Linda Searl, FAIA and the third annual Lerch Bates People’s Choice Awards presented in partnership with the Chicago Architecture Center. The People’s Choice Award finalists will be announced later in August with information on how the public can vote for their favorite designs.
