Wight & Company to Combine Forces with Lohan Anderson
Pairing of design-driven firms creates a new platform for diversified growth and global practice
Wight & Company, a pioneer in integrated design, delivery and innovative client solutions, is one of the country’s leading architecture, engineering and construction firms. Under the leadership of Chairman & CEO Mark Wight, the firm announced it will combine forces with Dirk Lohan and Floyd Anderson, who built the internationally acclaimed design and architecture firm of Lohan Anderson, with deep roots going back to Mr. Lohan’s grandfather and mentor, 20th century master architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. Mr. Lohan and Mr. Anderson are highly respected for their exceptional portfolio of global projects and interdisciplinary approach to design.
Mark Wight explained, “For more than 75 years, our firm has helped clients create exceptional, enduring buildings and spaces. Along with our continued focus on innovative client solutions and integrated services as reflected in our Design Delivery platform, we are committed to creating best-in-class projects. Our combination with Lohan Anderson will enable us to extend our joint reach into exciting new arenas and commercial markets. To accomplish this goal, the Lohan Studio will be established in our Chicago office, providing an additional level of expertise and sophistication that will offer exciting new opportunities for our staff and business partners.”
Dirk Lohan, together with Floyd D. Anderson, were founders of Lohan Anderson and were responsible for the firm’s design and long-term development. They established the office based on their shared philosophy that successful architecture must respond not only to economic constraints but also to larger social and environmental issues. The firm’s portfolio includes award-winning master plans, corporate buildings and institutional architecture throughout the United States and internationally, such as the McDonald’s Corporate Headquarters and Orland Park Public Library, both in the Greater Chicago area and the Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai, India. Mr. Lohan stated, “Our philosophy is even more relevant today due to the rapid changes in technology, the growing importance of environmental concerns and the impact of globalization on the life and work of all people. Our ability to work with Wight & Company is a huge opportunity to extend our reach in ways that were not previously possible.”
The Lohan Studio will launch in January 2016.
