//3877 Expands Interiors Team with Two New Designers

Christine Anneken, NCIDQ and Hunter McCalla Join the Growing Multidisciplinary Firm

//3877 welcomes Interior Designers Christine Anneken, NCIDQ and Hunter McCalla to the expanding architecture and design practice. As “Innovators” at the firm, Christine and Hunter bring their distinct skillsets to //3877’s robust hospitality program, creating new opportunities for collaboration and inspiration. Prior to joining the //3877 team, Christine worked as a Designer at EDG Interior Architecture & Design, while Hunter specialized in restaurant design and concept building at Aria Group. Both designers bring a fresh perspective to the D.C. market as they’re new to the DMV area, Christine relocated from San Francisco and Hunter has just moved from Chicago.

“Staying ahead of the curve in the hospitality industry requires our team to continually seek new approaches alongside rising talent, and we’re confident that Hunter and Christine will challenge us to look at design through a renewed lens,” says //3877 Partner David Tracz. “We’re thrilled to welcome them to //3877 and we’re eager to see how their professional experience and personal influence inspires our evolving practice.”

Christine Anneken

Citing her love for architecture’s combined emphasis on logic and creativity, Christine enjoys curating different user experiences through problem solving in the built environment. Throughout her career, Christine has played an integral role in designing high-end boutique hotels and restaurants; she takes pride in rooting her work in a strong narrative, from concept and programming through construction administration. In her role at //3877, Christine’s day-to-day work will vary in accordance with each project phase, adapting from sketching test fits and concept development to coordinating renderings and writing specifications.

“I was drawn to //3877 for the balance they’ve created between solving operational needs for clients while making a memorable visual impact on guests,” says Christine. “Having the opportunity to focus on a project from start to finish is invigorating as a creative, and I look forward to closely collaborating with my teams through this holistic approach.”

Hunter McCalla

Passionate about storytelling through design, Hunter has extensive experience in seeing project design through from concept development to construction administration. Drawing from her background, Hunter will work closely with her project teams on tasks such as concept design progression, vendor communication and space planning, modeling and detailing. She looks forward to exercising creativity alongside her colleagues, understanding design theory through new perspectives and strategies.

“The firm’s enthusiasm for their work is infectious, and I’m eager to dive into learning alongside the team, finding new and exciting ways to further advance my skills here at //3877,” says Hunter. “Being relatively new to the area, I’m excited to learn more about D.C., identifying industry similarities and notable differences from the Chicago market.”

Additionally, //3877 has further expanded their team for the summer, introducing intern Ana Cruz-Carrillo to the practice. Ana attends The Catholic University of America, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in architecture with a minor in sustainability as an Integrated Path to Architectural Licensure (IPAL) student. Throughout the summer, she will assist across projects, expanding her skillset and learning alongside her architecture mentors.
