Lehrer Architects LA Wins IIDA Interior Design Competition

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is honored to announce Lehrer Architects LA, Los Angeles, CA, USA, as the Best of Competition winner of the 44th annual Interior Design Competition for its project, the Milken Community Schools Guerin Family Institute and Architecture + Design Institute, Los Angeles, CA, USA. The IIDA Interior Design Competition recognizes outstanding, innovative interior design/interior architecture projects that encourage new ideas and techniques in the design and furnishings of interior spaces. The Best of Competition winner was announced on Sunday, June 11 at COOL, the annual IIDA black-tie gala, which celebrates design excellence.

“For more than 40 years, the IIDA Interior Design Competition has recognized the highest level of design achievement from firms whose innovation and creative execution pushes the boundaries of what interior environments can achieve,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “Lehrer Architects LA created a bold, flexible design that elevates the learning experience, allowing for the space to change and grow with students and educators.”

The esteemed jury panel for the competition included Carlos Madrid, Lead Designer, Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP; Jon Otis, IIDA, Founder and Principal of OlA – Object Agency; and Suzanne Tick, Affiliate IIDA, Founder, Suzanne Tick Inc.

“Milken Community Schools Guerin Family Institute and Architecture + Design Institute represents a beautiful architectural and interior solution that engages the environment and the user,” said Otis, on behalf of the jury. “The holistic approach conveys a real sense of joy, which translates beautifully to the learning process.”
