Herman Miller partners with top A&D firms to host events for Boys & Girls Clubs in 26 cities

Herman Miller and the Boys & Girls Clubs of America joined forces once again for the 19th annual “We Care,” a series of holiday events across the U.S. and Canada for disadvantaged children. Beginning December 1, more than 6,000 children attended events in 26 cities with volunteers from Herman Miller and the country’s leading architecture and design firms, including Gensler, HOK, Perkins+Will, and Interior Architects, among many others.

“We Care” gives children the opportunity to create holiday gifts for family, teachers, and friends at a variety of craft stations, including ornaments, tote bags, picture frames, bookmarks, and stockings. In addition to decorating gifts, the children enjoy snacks, dinner, and other activities such as face painting and balloon animals. At each location, dozens of volunteers were on hand to share in the holiday spirit and help children achieve their artistic vision.

“Children from disadvantaged circumstances often miss out on the joy and good cheer of the holiday season, and for many of them, making these crafts is the only way they can give presents to their loved ones,” said Herman Miller’s Megan Carrella, national “We Care” event coordinator. “We’re so thankful to all of the volunteers and sponsors who give their time, talent, and resources to ensure these children can attend the ‘We Care’ event every year.”

“We Care” is a longtime partnership between Herman Miller and design partners across North America. More than 50 Herman Miller employees champion “We Care” events with designers and architects from 200 architecture and design firms. Additional corporate sponsors provide refreshments, materials, transportation, and other support.

“The ‘We Care’ program enables Herman Miller and their partners to provide a unique experience for our local Boys & Girls Club members, helping them design, build, and provide gifts for their loved ones,” said John Miller, Senior Vice President, Field Services for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. “For some kids it provides the only opportunity to put something for others under their Christmas tree. Boys & Girls Clubs of America is grateful for the partnership and generous commitment of Herman Miller employees in local markets across the country.”

“We Care” events take place in the following cities: Atlanta, Baltimore, Charlotte, Dallas, Denver, Detroit, Holland, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Minneapolis, New York City, Orange County, Orlando, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Richmond, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, Seattle, St. Louis, Tampa, Vancouver, B.C., Virginia Beach, and Washington D.C.
