The new Etsy Headquarters, in Brooklyn’s DUMBO neighborhood, combines the company’s handcrafted identity with the rigorous Living Building Challenge requirements to create a sustainable, net zero building. The office runs on local solar power that comes partly from the building’s own roof as well as larger arrays located in Brooklyn’s Brownsville neighborhood.

With its solar panels and residential wind turbines producing nearly twice as much energy as the building has used, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s (CBF) Brock Environmental Center, in Virginia Beach, earned the ILFI’s Living Building Challenge certification, and is a net zero energy project.
