>3form (10-142)

The new Metallics Collection drawn inspiration from real rusted steel: Rust Forge and Oxide. 3form developed a proprietary technique to capture natural rust without sacrificing natural beauty. The vivid textures and subtle imperfections of rusted steel are safely preserved in translucent Varia and Glass materials, allowing light to peek through the surface. Rust Forge highlights the weathering of the metal when distressed beyond rusting, with distinctive dark streaks and intense marbling, while Rust Oxide is a smoother expression with mottled reddish-brown hues and soft patterning.

>Andreu World (10-132)

Nuez, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is born from the idea of creating a modulating seat as if it were a sheet of paper. Nuez’s shell – made from injected thermoplastic – is expressed as a flexible surface that embraces the body when seated and whose shape presents the same folders in the corners as a folded sheet of paper, conveying softness and materiality. Nuez offers a double texture: that of the shell – formed by three-dimensional undulations that give it movement – and that of the upholstery, which also involves complex and studied manufacturing, an authentic innovation. The fabric of the interior upholstery with banding was also designed by Patricia Urquiola.

The collection of wall and hanging pendants reinterprets ancient techniques used in fashion design, like smocking and pleating, to create large-scale, yet lightweight sculptural forms, made of sound-absorbing BuzziFelt. >C+P Furniture Systems Inc. (10-166)

Climate Office brings the positive effects of versatile green and water walls into the office, offering integrated work environments in biophilic design from a single source. Mobile hedge elements are used as natural and flexible partitioning in interiors and provide for optimal indoor air quality by filtering the air filter to remove harmful substances from the air. The mobile green hedges improve acoustics by filling and absorbing sound, and replace three separate elements (stand-up wall, plant or furniture which is only used for zoning) at the same time, serving as an economical investment. Similarly, mobile water walls contribute to a healthy indoor climate; in the design, a thin water film flows over a vertical glass wall, while suspended particles such as dust or pollen are filtered out of the air – a relief for allergy-sufferers. www.cp-furniture.com

Self-Assembly is a new collection of modular carpet created by combining small knit patterns into a textural tapestry, to visually form a large-scale pattern. >Skyline Design Architectural Glass (10-1060)

Transcend™, by Suzanne Tick for Skyline Design, responds to changes in how we use and experience space today, as we seamlessly transition from one spatial function to the next – between interior and exterior, from public to private, from open to quiet areas. Transcend innovates as it allows six etched and printed patterns on glass to intersect, overlap or fade using different techniques, thus facilitating a fluid experience of interior environments. Transcend consists of three fading geometrics and three technical textures that relate the collection to the materiality and construction of buildings, evoking the subtle fading and textural variations found in brick, stone and metal.

Skyline Design Transcend

Skyline Design also expands its Digital Glass Portfolio to include a new series of five designs by artists Laura Letinsky and John Paul Morabito. Letinsky and Morabito bring photography and weaving into dialogue, exploring the cooperative possibilities between these media. Letinsky’s abstracted photographs began as encounters with the aftermath of flower markets and wedding celebrations. Morabito further abstracts the photographs by taking the digital images into the physical realm of woven tapestries. Intuitively blending colorful wool threads, he simultaneously renders and transforms the original composition into a new image, which is then applied to Skyline Design glass. www.skydesign.com

Wolf-Gordon’s new textile, Infinite Neutral, challenges the namesake color’s traditional interpretation with multidimensional luminosity, blending many colors to give the interest of tone while still maintaining a complementary ease. The designer, Wolf-Gordon’s own Morgan Bajardi, was inspired by her education in oil painting and color theory when creating the construction. Bajardi used a crisp crepe weave to combine a mix of variations on the primaries; the results were a complex grey and beige that are both brighter and richer than any conventional neutral mixture. The four colorways are a balance of warm and cool, each containing 30 different thread colors. www.wolf-gordon.com
