BuzziJungle is a conceptual project exhibit on display exclusively at NeoCon. This new idea for the social office, conceived by the young Belgian talent Jonas Van Put, pushes the traditional boundaries of a workspace. Erik Bruce Fabrik for Carnegie is a Neocon installation in partnership with window fashions maker and designer Erik Bruce. The collaboration aims to shed light on the possibilities in creating artfulness at the window, with a focus on beautiful textiles combined with stunning craftsmanship. A broader collaboration between Mr. Bruce and Carnegie, debuting in the fall of 2016, will feature fantastic, detail-oriented commercial window treatments.
Carnegie customers can expect to see new High Performance Wallcoverings, including fresh introductions to its industry-leading Xorel line; new Thermoplastic Olefin (TPO) textiles that can be used in place of PVC materials; and new Durable Wovens, which are high performance textiles that have a more natural woven aesthetic.
New Upholstery Fabrics debuting at NeoCon, focusing on geometry and color, will include: Collage and Hive offer designers a focal point statement opportunity in hospitality, healthcare or corporate settings, while Fusion brings woven texture as a subtle companion to those stronger designs. Montara650, by Coalesse and Lievore Altherr Molina, is a casual meeting collection of sculpted chairs, stools and lounge chairs paired with simple pedestal tables in multiple shapes and heights. Montara650 is simple, sturdy and refined; attuned to the needs of meeting spaces throughout today’s workplace; and available with a highly-customizable set of base, power height, shape and finish options. “The inspiration came from abstracting the shape of a seated human figure, with the torso (back), the hips (seat), and the transition zone that unites them,” explains Lievore Altherr Molina.
LessThanFive is a lightweight stacking chair designed by Coallese and Hong Kong-based designer Michael Young. Gradient (wallcovering) and Gradient Sheer (drapery) are digitally printed styles with 10 atmospheric gradating colorways; from cool sunrise neutrals to bright sunset pinks and purples, the colors mimic the subtle changes seen in the sky throughout the day. Designed so that each colorway ends with hues that coincide with another of the colorways in the group, Gradient and Gradient Sheer can be mixed and matched as well as reverse hung to create a unique configuration of gradation for either windows or walls.
Moquette is a textile mash-up that blends a classic velvet weaving technique with the creative possibilities offered by digital printing technology – a combination of lustrous and matte yarns woven on modern wire looms. The wire loom allows areas to be woven as flat patterns while at the same time lifting certain yarns that can be cut to create the plush areas. Once woven the fabric is printed digitally to add an additional layer of colorful luxury.
Well Wall is an interactive wall patterning system informed by biophilia and research in cognitive science. Well Wall brings natural elements into any environment and allows users to build their own composition using a series of fractal patterns. Printed on a PVC-free type 2 wallcovering, it has a ferrous backer, allowing repositionable magnetic decals to attach to the surface. The ferrous wall is printed with a fine web of apparently random intersecting lines; a closer look reveals repeating geometric forms, and once users begin to position the pentagonal magnetic decals, patterns within patterns begin to emerge. www.designtex.com
