What is Unconscious Bias?

November 20, 2024 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Equity Council, a consortium of designers and design industry professionals within the International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY), is pleased to present an interactive CEU session titled What is Unconscious Bias?, in collaboration with Patcraft, a commercial brand of Shaw Industries. This event will take place on Wednesday, November 20, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at 232 Madison Avenue, 16th Floor, New York, NY 10016.

Led by Allyn Martin, Learning Strategy & Experience Manager at Patcraft, this session will explore various types of unconscious biases that influence our daily lives. While many think of unconscious bias in terms of race, gender, sexuality, or religion, biases extend further and affect our interactions in both professional and personal contexts. Through this session, participants will learn how to identify their own unconscious biases and gain strategies to mitigate their effects.

The interactive format encourages open dialogue and personal reflection, creating a space for participants to foster self-awareness and cultivate inclusivity. Attendees will earn 1 IDCEC CEU upon completion of the session. Tickets are available for $35 in advance and $45 at the door.
