IIDA NY Unveils Biophilic Theme for 22nd Annual Color Invasion®
October 24 @ 7:00 pm - 11:00 pm
The New York Chapter of the International Interior Design Association (IIDA NY) is thrilled to unveil the theme for the 22nd annual Color Invasion®—BioPhantasia. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, October 24th, from 7 to 11 p.m. at Center415, located at 415 Fifth Avenue in Manhattan. The evening will raise awareness and support for the Pajama Program and IIDA NY’s student awards programs.
“This year’s theme, BioPhantasia, draws inspiration from the concept of biophilia and sustainability,” said Brian Bates, Co-Chair of the Color Invasion® committee. “As part of the design industry, we recognize the importance of sustainability and our connection to the planet. Color Invasion® creatively immerses attendees in biophilia within the built environment, continually evolving to deepen this connection and inspire new perspectives.”
IIDA NY’s premier annual networking and social awareness event will fully immerse guests in the BioPhantasia theme, featuring a specially curated menu, signature cocktails, live entertainment, and surprises throughout the creatively designed spaces at Center415. Launched in 2001 as a tribute to design, community, and resilience following the September 11th attacks on the World Trade Center, Color Invasion® continues to celebrate creativity and connection. Creative professionals are encouraged to fully embrace the theme by arriving in costume to the theme.
“Each year, the Color Invasion® committee strives to craft a truly experiential event,” said Steven South, Committee Co-Chair. “While the lively atmosphere and exceptional food remain consistent, what sets each year apart is the theme. This year, we’re embracing the vibrant essence of the Amazon, with inspiration drawn from its flora and fauna. The decor, lounge settings, and catering will reflect the beauty of bioluminescence, natural greenery, and the diverse plant and animal life of the rainforest.”
Since 2014, IIDA NY has proudly partnered with the Pajama Program, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting children facing adversity, particularly those in foster care who often endure familial instability. The organization provides comfort to children across the nation by offering new pajamas and storybooks, sleep health education, and caring connections. These efforts ensure that children dealing with challenges such as low family income, housing insecurity, and family instability have the resources they need for better, more secure bedtimes.
To support the Pajama Program, attendees are encouraged to bring and donate new, unwrapped pajamas and books for children from infancy to 18 years old. Monetary donations are also welcomed and appreciated. Guests who donate two or more pajamas and/or books will gain VIP access to a special experience in the exclusive back room. For those unable to shop beforehand, IIDA NY will have a Pajama Program store onsite, where attendees can purchase pajamas and books to donate. Additionally, anyone can donate to Pajama Program via Color Invasion® until Giving Tuesday—December 3, 2024.
