IIDA NY Celebrates 30 Years of Community
March 20 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm
Designers & Architects Invited to Nostalgic 90s-Themed Anniversary Event
The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) is marking three decades of fostering collaboration, connection, and community with a special 30th Anniversary Celebration, titled “Party Like It’s 1995”, on Thursday, March 20th, from 6:00 – 9:00 PM at the Haworth NY Showroom (125 Park Ave, 2nd Floor, New York, NY 10017). General admission is free.
In a nod to the decade of its founding in 1995, attendees are encouraged to embrace 90s-inspired fashion—think windbreakers, overalls, and plaid shirts—as they gather for an evening of networking, nostalgia, and celebration. The event will feature a curated ’90s-themed playlist and interactive music trivia games on mobile devices to help raise funds for IIDA NY. Additionally, dedicated pavilions for Equity Council and the Advocacy Committee will provide opportunities to support their important initiatives.
Founded through the merger of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD), the International Society of Interior Designers (ISID), and the Council of Federal Interior Designers (CFID), IIDA NY was established with a bold vision—to unite design professionals under a single, international association that champions the industry’s evolution. For the past three decades, IIDA NY has connected design professionals across specialties, fostering collaboration, and advocating for the interests of the interior design community. Today, the chapter boasts a diverse membership of over 800 professionals spanning 10 specialty forums, offering unparalleled opportunities for education, mentorship, and industry engagement.
“IIDA NY is more than just a professional association—it’s a dynamic and inclusive community where designers, industry partners, and students come together to celebrate design, share knowledge, and shape the future of our industry,” said Christin Weaver, President of IIDA NY. “Through networking, education, and advocacy, we empower our members with the tools and connections they need to grow, innovate, and lead.”
With a steadfast commitment to sustainability, civic engagement, mentorship, and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI), IIDA NY continues to drive meaningful conversations and initiatives that impact the industry and beyond. The chapter comprises found City Centers in Albany, Syracuse, Rochester, and Buffalo as well as specialty committee dedicated to student development, professional development, DEI, and sustainability initiatives.
