HON Plans Return to Chicago with Bold New Fulton Market Showroom

The HON Company is coming back to Chicago. The Iowa-based furniture maker has announced plans for a new 12,000-plus-square-foot showroom in the city’s Fulton Market district. Opening in June 2026 for Fulton Market Design Days, the new space at 320 North Sangamon marks a reintroduction of the HON brand to Chicago’s design scene.

HON’s new home sits within one of the city’s most forward-thinking developments. Completed in 2021, 320 North Sangamon is a 13-story, 270,000-square-foot tower designed by Solomon Cordwell Buenz and developed by Tishman Speyer in partnership with Mark Goodman & Associates. The building embodies the kind of innovation HON hopes to inspire: wide-open, column-free floorplates, 13-foot ceilings and wellness-minded amenities that go along with LEED Gold and FitWel certifications. Its water-based Dedicated Outdoor Air System is the first and only of its kind in a Chicago office building.

For HON, the move to Fulton Market is a strategic statement. “Creating and bringing to market this new space is a pivotal moment for HON and a declaration of our commitment to the future of work, learning, and the entire Chicago design community,” said Jason Hagedorn, president of HNI Workplace Furnishings. “We feel energized by the fresh direction of the space and look forward to reintroducing HON as part of Fulton Market Design Days.”

The timing coincides with a broader showroom shift toward Fulton Market, at least among the majors. Fulton Market has evolved into another center for Chicago’s design community alongside THE MART. After exiting THE MART, it was clear the company was not returning to the building, but it was unclear whether HON would have a showroom in the city at all. Allsteel already has a showroom in Fulton Market and Steelcase, which HON is expected to add to its roster after the New Year, has a showroom there as well.

For HON, the new showroom will serve as both a destination and a launchpad. Expect the space to highlight the full range of HON’s capabilities, from its workplace furniture to its growing portfolio for education and hybrid environments.

The new location is envisioned as a collaborative hub, a place where designers, dealers and customers can work side by side, explore materials and experience the brand’s evolving design language firsthand. It’s also a clear signal that HON sees Chicago not just as a market, but as a community worth investing in deeply.

When the doors open in June 2026, visitors to Fulton Market Design Days will find more than another showroom—they’ll find a renewed commitment to connection, creativity, and the future of design. HON is back in Chicago, and it’s coming with purpose.
