Haworth Acquires Majority Stake in Tayco, Expanding North American Manufacturing and Product Portfolio

Haworth has acquired a majority shareholding in Tayco, adding the Toronto-based manufacturer’s production capabilities and casegoods portfolio to its North American platform.

The deal strengthens Haworth’s manufacturing network and expands the range of products available to its dealer base and customers. Tayco brings established expertise across office furniture, work systems, storage, casegoods, tables and seating, along with an existing U.S. footprint supported by a dealer network.

Under the agreement, Haworth dealers will gain access to Tayco’s product line, broadening specifications and competitive positioning in the contract furniture market. Tayco will continue to operate independently, retaining its leadership team, business model and open-line market approach.

Franco Bianchi, president and CEO of Haworth, framed the transaction as an operational and strategic expansion. “Tayco has spent 50 years building world-class manufacturing expertise. Bringing that capability into our network means more product options, more manufacturing flexibility and a stronger competitive position for our dealers and their clients,” he said.

Tayco’s leadership emphasized continuity and long-term investment. The company will remain under the direction of Bill Melnik and its senior management team, with no changes to products, services, programs or dealer relationships anticipated.

Melnik characterized the partnership as an opportunity to extend Tayco’s reach while preserving its operational strengths. “Over 50 years, we’ve built world-class expertise in furniture and casegoods manufacturing, skills and efficiency our team is excited to bring to Haworth’s global network,” he said. “This partnership allows us to invest for the long term and bring our products to more customers around the world.”

The transaction aligns with a broader pattern of consolidation among commercial furniture manufacturers seeking scale, manufacturing resilience and expanded product portfolios. For Haworth, the addition of Tayco enhances production flexibility in North America and reinforces its competitive position across core workplace categories. For Tayco, the partnership provides access to Haworth’s global distribution infrastructure while maintaining autonomy in day-to-day operations.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
